“National Teachers’ Month and World Teachers’ Day”
10743 entitled An Act Declaring the Fifth Day of October of Every Year as the National Teachers' Day and its Implementing Rules and Regulations, and the designation of the World Teachers' Day every 5th of October by the United Nations Education and Cultural Organizations (UNESCO) . In my school to celebrate this occasion, students perform songs and play, acknowledging the contribution of their teachers. Students also show their affection to their favourite teachers in the form of cards, speeches and chocolates face to face. But what are we going to do to celebrate our teachers’ Day on this new normal? Our school still celebrate it by using online platforms. They plan to continue celebrating teachers’ day not in face to face but in online process. We can call it a Virtual Teachers’ Day Celebration! This is for the first time that the celebration of teachers’ day is going to be a low-key because of COVID-19 pandemic. Caught amidst the pandemic, our school planned students have to express their gratitude and thanks towards their teachers by posting photographs and videos of speeches, songs and dances on social media pages. Our school and other schools in Pililla District have a great collaboration in terms of celebrating teachers’ day, there are different activities implemented with the Theme: I Teach for a Better Future: “Gurong Filipino para sa Batang Filipino” that teachers and students are the participants. These Activities are: Poster Making Contest on September 25, Best Tiktok on September 28 and Spoken Poetry on September 29 to be done via Google Meet.
