I am from Delhi and I have worked in Accenture for 15 months as an Associate
Software Engineer. I graduated from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra in 2014 in
Biotechnology. I love to sing and dance.

b. Why MBA?
I have been inclined towards learning the managerial side of the business rather than
the technical side. In Accenture I got the opportunity to understand the working culture
of a corporate environment. Working on specific tools and dealing with a few clients, I
realized that my existing knowledge base has severe limitations unless I acquire
further managerial skills. Thus I felt pursuing an MBA will empower me with modern
management techniques which I can use for the enhancement of business success of
the organization I will be part of in the future. There were other factors also that
influenced my decision for an MBA like financial stability, quick movement up the
corporate ladder and high networking opportunities.

c. Why HR? Why HR after graduation field?

In my college no core biotech companies came for placements, thus I chose to get placed in the
IT sector to understand the working culture of a corporate and how the industry functions.HR
was my preference because it is best suited for people like me who have people skills and like
to interact with different personalities. I also believe that HR professionals are likely to be in
charge of a lot of confidential data, and therefore the ability to keep secrets, which I possess, is
also one of the major traits that a HR professional must have. It excites me that HR incorporates
within itself numerous other disciplines as well, for eg.- in a recruitment process as an HR you
are entrusted with the job of hiring employees for your firm, which means you are choosing the
future workforce of your firm. You need to make sure that they fit the desired profile, you need to
make sure that they would stick around with your firm etc. and pick the best from a nebulous
mix of individuals after having compared them carefully.

m. Do you believe that only an MBA can do managerial/administrative work? Are engineers
not capable enough to do it?
I believe that anyone is capable of doing managerial/administrative work, but having an
MBA changes one’s perspective and approach to problem solving. A technically sound
person cannot necessarily make sound business related decisions. MBA degree helps one
get an insight into the tricks &acumen necessary for handling business. Someone may be
wonderfully knowledgeable, but an MBA program definitely sharpens the managerial skills &
soft skills necessary for taking better decisions.
