b. Why MBA?
I have been inclined towards learning the managerial side of the business rather than
the technical side. In Accenture I got the opportunity to understand the working culture
of a corporate environment. Working on specific tools and dealing with a few clients, I
realized that my existing knowledge base has severe limitations unless I acquire
further managerial skills. Thus I felt pursuing an MBA will empower me with modern
management techniques which I can use for the enhancement of business success of
the organization I will be part of in the future. There were other factors also that
influenced my decision for an MBA like financial stability, quick movement up the
corporate ladder and high networking opportunities.
d. What are your short term and long term professional goals? OR Where do you see
yourself in 5/10 years?
1. My short term goal is to build my knowledge base as much as I can during this 2 year
MBA course so that my resume is strong enough.
2. My long term goal is to find a position at a company where I can grow and take on new
challenges over time. Ultimately, I’d like to assume more management responsibilities
and get involved in strategic decisions. But most importantly, I want to work for a well-
established and esteemed organization where I can build a career.
i. Why should we hire you? OR What will you bring to the table?
I'm a team player who maintains a positive attitude and outlook. I have the ability to
stay focused in stressful situations and can be counted on when the going gets tough.
l. What are your hobbies/interests? Why didn’t you pursue them professionally?
My hobbies are singing and dancing. I have won many accolades during my school and college
days but I have never thought of them as a professional career for me. I think I lacked the time
and training which is required for pursuing them as a career.
m. Do you believe that only an MBA can do managerial/administrative work? Are engineers
not capable enough to do it?
I believe that anyone is capable of doing managerial/administrative work, but having an
MBA changes one’s perspective and approach to problem solving. A technically sound
person cannot necessarily make sound business related decisions. MBA degree helps one
get an insight into the tricks &acumen necessary for handling business. Someone may be
wonderfully knowledgeable, but an MBA program definitely sharpens the managerial skills &
soft skills necessary for taking better decisions.
