1. Early life of Ram Manohar Lohia

Born in faizabad in Uttar Pradesh, he created a space in Indian intellectual politician

He did his education in Kolkata, and for higher studies he went to Berlin.

4. Participation in nationalist movement

After returning from berlin he took part in active politics. And become a dispel of Gandhi.He
then joined Indian national congress.

He took a lead role in satyagrah

3. An introduction to his social thoughts.

4. Ideological difference with different leaders and contemporary mainstream

ideology

He was much Critical about Marx. According to him one person s ideology can’t be panacea for
the whole world. When the date of independence come closer differences with Indian national
congress grew. Differences with Nehru with can be observed in the fierce speech of agnist Nehru
in parliament.

5. Lohia rise to leadership

He was not only rebel in parliament but also a people’s leader. Still his legacy relevant in Hindi
heartland. He is an inspiration for painter and poets.

6. He not only criticized Gandhi but reconstructed Gandhi.

8. Taking on English and caste

According to Lohia English was language of few ruling classes’ people so it should be replaced
with the largest regional language. He took on caste system on the face of it.

9. Contemporary relevance of Lohias ideology

If he was alive, would have speaking agnist the new version of nationalism in the contemporary
politics. In the current context questioning the power which would be the panacea for
democracy. He would have talking agnist Inequality prevailing in India.
