Statement of the Problem

The main purpose of this study is to determine the factors affecting the student

performance in the Qualifying Engineering Examination (QEE) in the University. The

results of the study will serve as basis to enhance review program

Specifically, this study aims to answer the following questions:

1. What is the profile of the respondents in terms of;

1.1 Programs; and

1.2 Sex

2. What is the student performance in the QEE given in Academic Year

of 2019?

3. Is there a significant relationship that exists in the level of agreement

of respondents in the factors affecting their QEE performance when

grouped in demographic profile?

4. What factors affect student performance in the QEE in terms of the

following:

4.1 Personal factors

4.2 Home-related factors

4.3 School factors

4.4 Teacher factors

 5. What relationships exist between these variables:

5.1 Student performance in the QEE and personal factors

5.2 Student performance in the QEE and home-related factors

5.3 Student performance in the QEE and school-related factors

5.4 Student performance in the QEE and teacher-related factors

6. What is the level of agreement of the participants regarding the

factors that affect their performance in the QEE?

7. How is their level of agreement regarding the factors related to their

QEE performance?

8. Based in the findings of the study, what enhanced program may he

proposed?

Significance of the Study

This study will benefit the following:

University Administrators This study will help them as they craft policies that will

accomplish their established mission and vision.

Engineering Administrators. They will act on the results of the study and provide

students with activities that will assist them in this endeavor.

Engineering Faculty Members. This study will help strengthen their sense of

responsibility in ensuring the progress of their students in the different courses offered

in the programs. They will be more motivated to follow the administrator because they

play vital roles in achieving the goals of DOE.

Engineering Students. This study will help them to realize the factors that will

encourage them to appreciate and pursue their chosen program. This knowledge will

also affect their QEE performance and determine ways to enhance or overcome them.

Researchers. This study will assist future researchers embarking on a similar study.
