There are many mysterious temples that amazes everyone and is beyond science.

Here are some of them:

Temple predicting rain: Also known as ‘Monsoon Temple’ and ‘Rain Temple’, the Jagannath
Temple from Kanpur, is believed to predict rains. This origin of the temples dates back to hundreds
of years. People beleive that the temple can predict if the upcoming Monsoon would be good or
bad by the water droplets that accumulates on the ceiling of the temple. The size of the water
droplets helps in the prediction. If the size is big, then the rainfall would be good and vice-versa. The
dropping takes place 15days before the start of the Monsoon.

Flag waving opposite to the wind: The Jagannath Temple in Puri is one of the most famous and
visited temples. It is one if the holy Char Dham pilgrimages. One of the incredible facts about the
temple is that the flag on top of the Sikhara of the temple always flows on the opposite direction of
the wind. The flag is changed everyday by a priest who climbs 45storey building to do the same. The
ritual is done everyday for 1800years now and must continue since, if a day is missed, the temple
will be shut for the next 18years.

22 Billion Dollar Vault: Located in Thiruvanantapuram, the Anantha Padmanabha Swamy
temple has seven secret vaults. Six of these vaults have been opened on the request of the Supreme
Court and ornaments and golds estimating 22 billion dollars have been unveiled. The doors of the
vaults are considered mysterious and dangerous. These could only be opened by chants.

Granite Temple: Located in Tamil Nadu, the Brihadeeswarar temple is an architectural master


piece. The astonishing fact about the temple is that it is completely carved out if granite, however,
no source of granite have been found within 60kms of the temple. Hoe they mounted the granite, is
still a mystery.

Staircase with Music: The Airavateswara temple is extremely mysterious. This Temple is dedicated
to Lord Shiva and dates back to the 12th century. At the entrance of the temple one can hear all the
different swaras. The steps produce seven different sounds on tapping. This Temple is also
recognised as an UNESCO World Heritage Monument.

Hanging Pillars: The Lepakshi or Veerabhadra temple catches the maximum attention of the


people with its hanging pillar. There are 70 pillars in the temple, this being the most wonderful. To
test its reality, the temple passes a peice of cloth through the bottom of the pillar.

Mummified Body: The Ranganatha Swamy Temple is one of the Vaishnava temples in South
India. The most astonishing part of the temple is the 1000year old mummified body of Shri
Ramanujacharya that is still kept preserved here. The body is kept in a normal sitting position and
can be viewed by everyone. On a closer look, one can spot his eyes and nails.

Temples on the same line: Pancha Bhoota Stalam are five Shiva temples are held in reverence for
centuries. It is present in South India. These five temples represent Earth, Fire, Space, Water and Air.

Disappearing Temple: The Stambheshwar Mahadev Shrine of Gujarat is also known as the


Disappearing temple since it literally disappears. Located at the bay of Cambay on the beaches of
Jambusar city, this Temple is about 150 years old. When the high tide arrives, the temple is
completely submerged under water and disappears from sight and reemerges once the tide passes.
