the need to keep bones healthy. Amid covid-19 pandemic, it is crucial to pay attention to bone
health.

pandemic has brought to fore the importance of health the hard way.

(N) III Yr students of JIETCON benefited by this session

Following aspects were discussed about BLS

The BLS trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give
high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an
AED. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update
for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).
BLS Course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how
to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility
and prehospital settings.

What does BLS teach?

 High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants

 The AHA Chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components
 Important early use of an AED
 Effective ventilations using a barrier device
 Importance of teams in multirescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team
member during multirescuer CPR
 Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants
 High quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and early defibrillation using an
automated external defibrillator (AED) are the most important aspects of BLS to ensure a
victim survives. CPR involves a rescuer or bystander providing chest compressions to a
victim in a supine position while also giving rescue breaths.

Training on basic life support increase nursing students’ knowledge and provide that they
implement evidence-based basic life support practices. Previous studies demonstrated that basic
life support training significantly improved nursing students’ knowledge, practice skills,
attitudes, and self-efficacy.
BLS training will give you the confidence to act quickly when it is necessary; it can eliminate or
greatly reduce the amount of hesitation that you may feel. Because you will have had BLS
training, you’ll feel secure in the knowledge that you are taking the right actions required to save
a life.
