Lab#8 INTER VLAN
Objective:
 This lab exercise is designed for understanding Inter-VLAN routing.

Procedure:
 Inter Vlan means that each vlan is connected to different network.
 In this lab we created two vlans named as vlan 2 and vlan 3 and different IP address
are assign to them having class C as the subnet mask.

PC1
VLAN2

VLAN3

PC3 PC4

 In packet tracer software we place four PCs and connect them with the help of copper straight
through cable to the switch as shown in figures below.
 IP addresses are assign to each of PC.
 After that we create vlans as vlan2 and vlan 3 by writing the following commands.

 Each interface is then associated with their respective vlan by following commands.

 With the help of trucking commands we made trunk as shown in below figure.
 To communicate between vlans we use router with the switch, interface of switch is made vlan.
Now the issue is the configuration of router where there are more than one gate way and two IP
address can not be assign to the single interface. To imtigate this problem we create sub
interfaces to communicate between diffrerent vlans. All the commands are to create the sub
interfaces are shown below.

Lab home task:

 In this task two switches are connected and three vlans are created named as vlan5, valn8,
and vlan10. All the vlans have different network because of different IP addresses. First
of all two switches are configure in such a way that first we create vlans and assign each
interface a vlan to which it belongs. After that we connection between two switches are
made communicate able by using the trucking technique. Due to different network
connections are made with the help of router so lastly, we configure router and creates
sub interfaces to connect to the different network.
 Configure the switch 0 by creating vlans.

 Assigning each interface to the vlan as shown below.

 Configure switch1 by creating vlan.

 Associate vlans to the interface and trucking are made as shown below.

 Allowing trucking in switch0 by using following commands.

 Configure router and create sub interfaces as shown below.

Conclusion:
In this lab we learnt how to configure the inter vlans if there is only one switch the diffrerent
vlans can communicate by defing the vlans and assigning each interface to there repective vlans.
In other case if there is more than one switches and having diffrernt vlans then router is used to
communicate between them, for this case we creat vlan and interface is defined in their vlans
after that we form trunk to communicate with different switches. Lastly, router is configure and
sub interfaces are connected as shown in the above task
