Prepare a structured set of questions.

Review the application form and resume BEFORE the meeting.

Put the applicant at ease and giving a brief of the topics to be discussed.

Ask questions and listen carefully.

Take a few notes.

Close the interview by telling the applicant what is going to happen.

Write your evaluation.

Avoiding Hiring mistakes

Prepare a list of job requirements so that the candidate would understand


the expectations of the job.

Don’t panic.

Ask appropriate questions (what are your long term and short term goals)

Before you extend an offer, check references.

Obtain applicant’s permission to check references

Don’t depend on letters that provide only partial information.

Questions when checking “why didn’t you persuade him to stay?”

Compare TEAMS’ questions, and agree on the final list.
