Clarification about the “Job”

• Job Analysis: Developing a detailed description of the tasks in a job,


relation to others jobs, and abilities of employees to do this job.
• Job Description: A written statement of what a jobholder does, how its
done, and why is it done.
• Job Specification: States the minimum acceptable qualifications that an
employee must have to perform a given job …. Successfully.

Work Schedules Options

Compressed Workweek: A four-day week, with employees working ten


hours a day.

Flextime: Employees work during a common core time period each day,
but have discretion in forming their total workday from a flexible set of
hours outside the core.

Job Sharing: The practice of having two or more people split a 40-hour-a-
week job.

Telecommuting: Employees do their work at home on a computer that is


linked to their office. This is presently the fastest growing trend in work
scheduling.
