Notebook/Tasks & Special Projects/Activities:

• Students should always bring their tablets to class, as this will be the main means of completing notes and
homework. I highly recommend getting a stylus that will allow you to write on laptop.

• If student does not want to use tablet or forgets tablet, they can take notes and do homework
on a sheet of paper
• Calculator Needed: TI-30XS MultiView: This calculator costs approximately $15.
It does almost everything a graphing calculator does (except graph).

I strongly recommend that you purchase this calculator.
Students who have this calculator will have a great advantage over those who do not.

Course Description: The units covered include Relationships between Quantities,

Reasoning with Equations and Inequalities, and Linear, Quadratic, and Exponential Functions.

Your GRADE is determined by the following percentages:

60% Major
30% Minor
10% Practice

Tests and Quizzes: Quizzes will be given periodically and will be schedule on the monthly calendars. ALL TESTS &
QUIZZES must be completed in PENCIL. It is imperative that students show work in order to receive credit for the
assignment. If you write only the answer, you will not receive full credit for the problem even if the answer is correct.

Homework & Notebooks: Homework will be given regularly and checked for completion. All work must be shown to
receive credit. Homework is not accepted late.

EOC: There will be an EOC (End Of Course GA Milestones Test) at the end of second semester. This test is created by the
state of Georgia and it will be over material from the entire year.

Textbook: We do not use a textbook in this class. There is a textbook that goes along with Algebra 1, if you would like
access to this textbook please contact teacher.

Field Trips and School Activities: The student is responsible for work missed. Since these are usually prearranged, you
must have your assignment completed on the normal due date. This requires that you talk with the teacher ahead of
time to assure you have the classwork and homework.

Tardies & Absences: Students late to first period must check in at the Attendance Office.
• 1 to 2 tardies – teacher warning
• 3 tardies – teacher detention
• 4 tardies or more – office referral

Make-up Work: Upon returning to school following an absence, it is the student’s responsibility to obtain make-up
work. All work is sent to students OneNote notebook. They are required to do work for the day they missed.
• The student will be given the same amount of time to make up the work as the student was absent unless other
arrangements are mutually agreed upon.
• If a student is absent only 1 day when a test/quiz is given, the student should be prepared to complete the
test/quiz in class upon his/her return to class. If a student is absent the day an assignment is due, the student
should be prepared to turn it in upon his/her return.

Recovery Policy:
• Students will have the opportunity to recover each test taken. If a student scores below a 79 on a major
assessment they are eligible to recover that major assessment. Students will have to do recovery work before
they can recover major assessment. Students can score up to 79 on recovery assessment. Recovery must be
completed before next major assessment or 5 days before end of semester.

Student Expectations: The student is expected to adhere to the following rules:

• Good manners are to be used at all times.
• Respect the teacher and other students.
• Be seated and ready to work when the tardy bell rings.
• No food or drink in class EXCEPT for water.
• Cell phones need to be silenced during class and should be put away.

Extra Help: I am available for extra help before school (7:45-8:15 AM) and after school (3:35-4:15 PM) as much as
possible. Consult with individual teacher for other possible options. Availability dates and times are subject to change
in the event of meetings, morning duty, etc. Keeping up with the material is very important. When you need help, don’t
wait until it is too late to ask for help!

Academic Dishonesty:
Academic dishonesty (copying, cheating, etc.) will not be tolerated. If you let someone copy your homework, both you
and the person who copied will get a zero. Cheating on a test or quiz will result in a zero.

Parent/School Communication:
Methods of communication between parent and school include grade reports, conferences, and email. Parents are
welcome to contact me at any time if you have a question or concern. Email is the best way to contact me
(guos@fultonschools.org).

Classroom Supply “Wish List”:

As we begin a new school year, we wanted to send home a wish list of classroom supplies for the upcoming year. If you
are financially able and wish to donate a few items, the following list has some of our greatest needs.

Hand Sanitizer*
