MODULE I - Rights to Ancestral Domain and Lands
A. The Ancestral Domain, how it is Respected, Protected, Recognized and
Promoted
The Ancestral Domain of Kagan/Kalagan ICCs/IPs in the City of Mati, Davao
Oriental is respected, protected, recognized and promoted thru an Application for the
Certificate of Ancestral Domain Title (CADT) and Recognition of the Ancestral Water
bearing CADT Application No. RO-11-DO-0016 dated December 21, 2018 before the
NCIP Davao Oriental Provincial which is propose to be funded on the year 2021. As
part of the development framework to improve their socio-economic and cultural well-
being and promote, protect, sustain and conserve the ecology and environment as their
proactive role in responding to climate change thus, an Ancestral Domain Sustainable
Development and Protection Plan (ADSDPP) formulation is also requested for funding.
There was also an initial step to strengthen and enhance the IP Governance or the IPS
through the local legislative body. To enhance and nurture the indigenous knowledge in
the Mandaya Children and youth, the Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Practices
(IKSP) was documented. Lastly, any entity be it Government or Private interested to
invest in the Mandaya ICCs/IPs Ancestral Domain shall undergo the Free and Prior
Informed Consent (FPIC) Process.
