Detailed process

#1 Collection

Paper Waste is collected (office papers, bond, cartolina, board, waste books and
many more excluding only those with plastic content)
Collection will be done twice a month (exchange with new finished products)
Month 1 = 30kg (10kg for pre launch period)
Month 2 = 30kg
Month 3 = 50kg
09
#2 Pulping
A blender is used to pulp the papers
10 seconds blender (5 sec LOW, 5 sec HIGH)

A half porridge appearance will be created

to be used for the Bleaching process.

10
#3
Bleaching

Paper pulps will get whiter and creamier

An Oxygen bleach will be used to reduce microorganisms,
inks, colors, to sanitize
5 % concentration will be used vs the total water + dry weight

11
12
#4 Pulping added with additives

A blender is used to fine pulp the papers

15 seconds blender (5 sec LOW, 10 sec HIGH)

Additives to be added
Carboxymethyl Cellulose (5g/ kilo)
Calcium Carbonate (100g /kilo)
Kaolin powder (70g/ kilo)

30 liters of water (20 cycles for 1 kilo)

13
Calcium Carbonate
Promotes acid-free archival qualities by providing an
alkaline reserve.
It helps to prevent shrinkage and provides smooth
surface in paper casting and
improve opacity and whiteness.

(Sodium) Carboxymethyl Cellulose

In powder form is a versatile adhesive which can be added to
liquid pulp to promote fiber to fiber bonding and give needed
strength to paper castings. It adds some sizing (water
resistance) characteristics and also makes the surface of
finished art pieces more durable..

Kaolin Clay
Helps reduce shrinkage and provides smoothness and opacity.
It also improves printability and casting properties.

#6
Formation
10 sec cycle starting by soaking the frame
to lifting the frame
and getting of excess water

17
#7
Coaching
sheets formed are transferred
to felts
5 sec/ transfer

18
#8
Wet
Pressing

Sheets are stacked together (with felts) , the water is extracted using pressure applied by a
pressing tool

Timeline "Draft" - Month 1
DAY 1 AND 2

1. Bleaching 20 rounds (10 sec + 10 sec material preparation)/ kilo

10 kilo/ day = 2 day (Bleaching)

Solution: 20 x 20 sec
400 sec/ kilo
400 x 10 kilo
= 4000 sec/ 67 minutes (Blending for 10 kilos)

2. Waiting (2-4 hours)

3. Washing (2-3 hours)

REST OF THE MONTH 1 kilo a day

BEFORE LAUNCH - 10 kilos reserve

22
23

1 Kilo/ Day (1 color for 8 designs) 20 days, so 1 color have 2 days each
Estimation comes with 40 formation cycles to consume 1 kilo of waste paper
5 formation cycles for each design (same color)
