VI. Enrichment Activities

1. ) Is the poem by Andres Bonifacio a primary or secondary source? Discuss your

answer?

Primary sources in historiography are records from the years under analysis or
writings by someone who encountered or witnessed the incident or era under
investigation. And Andres Bonifacio's poem is a primary source in this instance. It's
because Bonifacio's poetry is a written classic. Since it reflects the spectator's
viewpoint, the poem is a primary source. In addition to that the poem itself is based on
the facts and reality of life experienced by Bonifacio. Therefore, because it was written
from personal experience, we can assume that Andres Bonifacio's poem is a prime
source.

2. ) What feeling did the poem “Pag-ibig sa Tinubuang Lupa” by Andres Bonifacio
evoke in you?

To begin, I must state that the poem was composed with much passion and
meaning. Reading this piece reawakened the patriotism I already had. Apart from that,
my heart broke for Andres, especially when he expressed his thought that the Filipino
people had lost their confidence in being Filipino. I also learned that there is no other
country that is as ideal for me as the Philippines. Furthermore, I was struck by the
reality that I, too, do not show my nation the love and admiration that it deserves, and
via Bonifacio's feelings, I examined and appraised myself as to how far I would go for
my country, believing that what Bonifacio accomplished was beyond my capabilities.
This poetry reminds me of my Filipino identity, which I am proud of.

IV. Learning Activities

Topic/Reading No. 1: Antonio Pigafetta: First Voyage Around the World

A. My own Voyage.

1. ) Imagine you have the chance to explore places, what they will be? Draw your
route/map on the box below. Then name the places you landed in.

2. ) Briefly describe your journey.

Years ago it has been a dream of mine to go on missions and because there are
a lot of preparations needed to be fully equipped for this kind of calling I am still on
the process of making myself that person. The 4 major countries that I’d like to visit if
given the opportunity are Vietnam, Norway, Australia and North Korea. These are the
countries that have the least number of believers in Christ based on what I have
researched. I plan to go to these places to fulfill my purpose in life and that is to make
Him known. But in doing missions you should always prepare for the possibility of
not being able to go back to where you came from because upon your journey you
will encounter lots and lots of struggles especially persecution coming from the non-
believers of Christ. That is also the reason why I chose to put North Korea last
because a lot of precautions and studying of the rules are needed to survive there how
much more trying to make them believe in the Truth because I have also heard stories
about missionaries going there being tortured and killed. Nonetheless, no matter how
much we struggle here on Earth if it is for the Lord our reward in heaven overflows.
