Classification of Card
Cardboard
Cardboard is a type of card that is made of a
wave-like piece of paper (a flute) sandwiched
between two pieces of card. It is one of the core
pieces of packaging in the packaging industry. It is
used because of its robust shape and strength.

An example use of cardboard is:


 Packaging large items, such as appliances.
 Packaging fragile items, such as vases. Cardboard

Corrugated Cardboard
Corrugated cardboard is a type of card that has
a major difference between other types of
cardboard. This type has 3 layers of card and 2
flutes. This means that it becomes much
stronger than the other types of cardboard.

Some uses of corrugated cardboard are: Corrugated Cardboard


 Packaging for heavy items.
 Basing for pallets for easy movement.

Carton Board
Carton board is a type of card that consists of 2
pieces of card stuck together. This makes it
relatively weaker than other types of cardboard,
but it can still be used to package foods, such as
sandwiches.

Some examples of these are:


 Packaging for foods (sandwich packages)
 Toilet and kitchen roll inside the paper, foil etc. Carton board
