REVIEW QUESTIONS

1. The output of a difference op-amp amplifier is proportional to the difference at the inputs.
2. If the voltage of the inverting input is more negative than the voltage at the non-inverting input
for difference op-amp, the output will be zero.
3. The higher the CMRR is, the better the quality of an op-amp.
4. If the signal of the same amplitude and phase angle is applied to both inputs of an op-amp
simultaneously and the output is nearly zero, the op-amp is said to have a high CMRR.

DISCUSSION

To reduce noise and extract valuable information for amplificatio n, the

differential amplifier employs a cancellation technique. Therefore, it is used as
a first-stage amplifier on occasion. The difference between two input voltages is
amplified while any normal voltage between the two inputs is suppressed by an
electronic amplifier. A differential amplifier is an analog circuit with two inputs
(V1 and V2) and a single output (V0), with the output equal to the difference
between the two voltages.
