Exercise ; Should + Perfect

Dear students,
How are you doing, wish all of you are healthy. In this meeting we will continue our Exercises, it will be
about Should + Perfect. Do the exercises appropriately with the instructions. All the exercises are in
written form.

Review Material;
When we use “Should + Perfect/Should Have + Verb3” it means that;

 It was the right thing to do but we didn’t do it.


 We expected something to happen, but it didn’t.
e.g. ; - Henry should have finished his work two days ago. (but he didn’t)
- He made an impolite statement. As a student, he shouldn’t have said such a thing. (but he did)
Pattern:

Afirmative Subject Should have Verb 3


Negative Should not
Interrogative Should Subject have Verb 3

Put verbs in the brackets with “should have”

a. Look at the vase. It’s broken into pieces now. You (be) ... careful. It was an expensive

c. My car drove into the back of someone else’s car. I (not drive) ... the car too close.

d. They wrote the word “analyze with “s”, which was UK spelling. They (write) ... the word
with “Z” in US spelling.
