Second language teaching, as literature (e.g. Richards, 1995; Richards & Rodgers, 2001;
Hinkel, 2017) cautions, is often misleadingly conceived of as hinging entirely on the act of
teaching. It involves a carefully designed integration of a panoply of processes ranging from
curriculum planning and development: including identification of materials or exploiting
assigned textbooks, appropriate instructional strategies an assessment procedures, to facilitating
implementation. With respect to the latter, it is particularly imperative that implementation
processes necessarily focus on, and include responsive provisions for ensuring, teachers’
readiness as it relates to knowledge; skills and orientations to implement the designed
programme.
This Day 2 session is designed to help participants understand and explore how
to successfully achieve the interface between theoretical understanding and their contextual
application.
