1.0 Introduction
The auxiliary power supply system consist of 2 nos. unit auxiliary transformers , 8 nos. LT
auxiliary transformers to feed various loads at 6.6 kV & 415 V system. To ensure the
availability of voltage at motor terminals during steady state and running condition, with in
permissible limits, voltage drop (load flow) study has been carried out as summarised below.
2.0 Description
Key Single line diagram of auxiliary power supply distribution showing 11 kV, 6.6 kV and
415 V system is enclosed .
Under steady state operation voltage drop in the system shall be limited to 5%. That is with
availability of 1 p.u voltage at 11 kV system, voltage at motor terminals shall be not less than
0.95 p.u. and with availability of 0.95 p.u voltage at 11 kV system, voltage at motor terminals
shall be not less than 0.9 p.u.
During starting of largest 6.6kV/415 V motor, voltage drop in the system shall be limited to
20%. That is with availability of 1 p.u or 0.95 p.u voltage at 11 kV system, voltage at motor
terminals shall be not less than 0.8 p.u
Voltage drop study has been carried out for the following variations:
During steady state operation.
During starting of largest 6.6 kV motor
During starting of largest 415V motor
System parameters, Transformer rating , impedance values and Cable particulars considered
are based on the following document.
Short circuit study for Power supply system. (Doc.no.SPL-C-CAL-E-0104)
Sizing calculation –11 kV,6.6kV,415V Cables (Doc.no.SPL-C-CAL-E-0006)
During steady state operation voltage availability at 6.6 kV motor terminals , at largest LT
motor , fuel handling motor (which is located farthest from transformer) and sea water intake
system has been calculated.
During starting of largest 6.6 kV/LT motor, voltage availability at 6.6 kV motor terminals/ at
largest LT motor and fuel handling motor (which is located farthest from transformer ) has
