TEDMAG TRAINING REPORT ON AUGUST 19, 2019

INTRODUCTIONs

As part of the activities of the Agric office, a training was organized on “Adult as learners” at the

Weija Gbawe Municipal Assembly’s Conference Room.

IMPORTANCE OF THE TRAINING;

1 The MIS officer stressed on the relevance of providing comfortable learning

environment for adults, and why adults should be involved in diagnosing of their

problems.

2 Adults have more fixed pattern of thought and always relate new experience to their

experience base.

3 Explain how to apply principles of behavior change and adoption curve to work with

farmers.

4 The types of learning styles and which one is most effective in dealing with farmers.

They were; learning by seeing, hearing and doing.

5 Reducing communication barriers that could affect adoption of new practices by

Extension and by farmers whichincludes;

 Message never reaches the target audience, inadequate choice of

communication media

 Message reaches the target audience but they do not pay attention

 Message not understood or correctly interpreted incorrect message content

 Audience disagrees with the message.


 Audience ignores message

 Audience abandons advice contained in the message

6 He again, emphasized on the application of the adopters categories from the innovators

to very late adopters.

QUESTIONS ASKED

Number of questions were asked including;

 Why few people do not prefer innovators stage,

 Extension Agent’s role in innovation-decision process

 The numerous barriers to adopting new practices

 What differentiate youth learning from adult learning

 What is the most effective learning style,

ANSWERS

With the help of the MIS Officer, satisfactory answers were given to all the questions asked.

CONCLUSION;

The participants were all enthuse by the training and to apply same when on their various

fields.
