The researchers would like to thank first and foremost of course our Almighty

God who is the great provider, the source of everything; the extra strength, patience,

wisdom and understanding He has given in pursuing the study; Also, for the unending

guidance and protection of the researchers.

The researchers are indeed very much thankful and in awe to their STAT 102

instructor, Dr. Edrian Saraos for his enduring patience especially in supervising the

progress of the groups’ study and not to forget him sharing his wisdom in the

formulation of the research title. They are also very much glad to the Senior High

School students who willingly cooperated in gathering the data for the study. To the

family of the researchers who were very morally and financially supportive to make

the study attainable. Without the provision of additional allowances for the

researchers, the study would have not been pushed through. Not to forget of course,

the research team who were very much cooperative, understanding and supportive in

the conduct of the study; the team who managed to avoid misunderstandings or any

Semester, S.Y. 2019-2020. MATHEMATICS SELF-EFFICACY AND
PERFORMANCE OF SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS OF DUMALNEG
NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL.

This study looked into the mathematics self-efficacy and performance of the

senior high school Students of Dumalneg National High school. The descriptive-

correlational approach was employed using a questionnaire to obtain a pertinent data.

The questionnaire used was designed by Diane K. May (2009), i.e. Mathematics Self-

Efficacy and Anxiety Questionnaire (MSEAQ) but only the items in Mathematics

Self-Efficacy were considered. A total of 52 senior high school students enrolled

during the first semester of the academic year 2019-2020 were used as the samples of

the study. The data were analyzed and interpreted statistically using frequency,

percentage, mean, t-test and Pearson r.

Results showed that both the Grade 11 and Grade 12 students developed a

high level of mathematics self-efficacy but the Grade 12 students had a higher mean

level of Mathematics Self-efficacy than the Grade 11 students.

The study also revealed that generally, the students have good performance in

mathematics. It is further revealed that the students’ level of mathematics self-efficacy

is significantly correlated with their level of mathematics performance, which means

that the students’ mathematics self-efficacy affects their performance in the subject.
