SAVE DUMMA FROM CLIMATE CRISIS

The term Dumna comes from the result of Sanskrit words [dur+maan] which means that the
thoughts are far away. The Dumna Nature Reserve of Jabalpur Municipal Corporation is
scattered over almost 1800 acres of forested land, approximately forty meters above the Jabalpur,
a city in Madhya Pradesh. It is an ecotourism site open to the general public positioned within
the Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh. It consists of a dam, forests, and flora and fauna in a
1058-hectare area. Dumna Nature Reserve or Dumna Forest is the lung of Jabalpur, just as Aari
Forest is the lung of Mumbai.

However, there is an ongoing movement to maintain the reserve undisturbed. Therefore, three
public interest litigations have been filed in the High Court of Madhya Pradesh. Dumna is a
preserved ecological habitat in an urban area and it is also a catchment area for the Khandari
Lake that is a crucial delivery of drinking water supply to the city. This reserve and the adjoining
forest areas have a report of virtually 100 years of conservation. Even though the forest area
covers are developing there is a decrease in forest area covers of Jabalpur. The first and essential
step should be to get the Dumna Natural Reserve a central authority and public interest as it
seems it is being considered as land for several obligations in the future like the International
Cricket Stadium, IT park, an educational hub, luxurious hotels/resorts, etc. In response to the
PILs are submitted to the honorable court for 10 Km Dumna avenue widening, the response of
the defendant in the same is that with the resource of the usage of maintaining that Dumna will
be a training hub as there is a university already present in the area. Some people are willing to
ruin Dumna for personal benefit. But the battle is prolonged until Dumna gets protected. Dumna
may be considered as a troubled neighborhood but the problem is faced with the resource of the
usage of every specific forest cover in our country. What is genuinely nice and really well worth
noting and praising is that the people of Jabalpur have become aware and helping the cause as
absolutely everyone in our metropolis is concerned with Dumna. Dumna is not only genuine
home to plants and fauna however, to the majority of the more youthful generation for
recreation, older generations for non-violent nature walks, cyclists, students, researchers, wildlife
enthusiasts. Dumna has received the hearts of many. Dumna is a piece of paradise.
