Bag Technique

 
 

Instruction: Check under Correctly Done if identified skill is correctly performed; Incorrectly

1.    Upon arriving at the client’s home, take the      
linen/plastic lining/clean paper and spread over the
work field or area. The clean side must be out and
the folded part touching the work field/area.
2.    Place the bag on the working area lined with      
linen/plastic lining/clean paper and put the bag’s
handles or straps beneath the bag.
3.    Ask for a basin of water if faucet is not available.      
Place it outside the working field/area.
4.    Open the bag and take out hand towel and soap      
dish with soap. Place them at one corner of the
working area.
5.    Perform handwashing.      
6.    Take out the apron from the bag and put it on      
with the right side out. Tie the straps at the back and
slide the head into the neck strap.
7.    Put out all the necessary articles needed for the      
specific care.
8.    Place a waste paper/bag outside the working      
area/field.
9.     Close the bag.      
10.  Proceed in performing the necessary care and      
treatment.
11. After completing the nursing care or treatment,      
clean all things that were used.
12.  Perform handwashing.      
13. Open the bag and return all things that were
used in their proper places.
14. Remove apron folding it away from the body
with soiled side in and clean side out. Place it in the
bag.
15. Ask the family to dispose paper receptacle.
16. Close the bag without locking it and lift the bag
17. Pick up and fold the plastic/paper lining making
sure that the side that touch the working field/area is
on the inside.
18. Insert the plastic/paper lining on top of the bag
and lock it.
19. Take the record and have a talk with the client.
Write all the necessary data that were gathered,
observations, and nursing care rendered. Give
instructions for care of patient in the absence of the
nurse.
20. Make an appointment for the next visit, either
home or clinic, taking note of the date, time, and
purpose.
