Most System unit use the procedure like this, removing

first the four screws on the back of the computer. And

remove the side panel. But in this case, it is a different

System Unit. It’s model is Dell optiplex755, as you can see

in figure 1. Tools needed for this procedure are nothing

since there are no screws to be removed. Simply find a lock

on top of the System unit as stated in figure 1. Then pull

it towards you. The case located at the left side panel of

the System unit will automatically detach. You now remove

the outer case shell of the system unit.

The finding is that this procedure is one of the

easiest parts. Doing it in a first you might seem to be

ignorant but don’t worry, as long as you follow the

procedures. You are safe to accidents.

CD/DVD DRIVES

CD/DVD DRIVES uses a laser light to read data from or

write data to an optical disc. These include CDs, DVDs, and

Blu-ray discs. This allows you to play music or watch movies

using pre-recorded discs

Figure2:

CD/DVD

DRIVES

The goal/objectives in this figure is to remove the

CD/DVD DRIVES from the System Unit. This must be remove

first because it blocks the other components of the system

unit.

In a common PC this can be removed by pushing it out

from the inside. However, in this model, it is different

since it has a lock. First, remove the cables connected to

the drive. Then pull the lock upwards located near the side

of the drive. You can see it above the figure. While pulling

the lock, carefully slide the drive from the inside to

remove. Again, no tools are used in this procedure.

I found out that Removing the CD/DVD DRIVES is also

simple. If you know the procedure, it is easy.CD/DVD DRIVES

is where you put the disks to be read. So you must be

careful of it.

POWER SUPPLY

A component that supplies power to at least one

electric load. Typically, it converts one type of electrical

power to another, but it may also convert a different form

of energy such as solar, mechanical, or chemical into

electrical energy.

A power supply provides components with electric power.

The term usually pertains to devices integrated within the

component being powered.

Figure 3: POWER SUPPLY

9
Our goal for figure 3 is to remove it from the System

Unit.

Since the Power Supply is connected to the System Unit

by a Screw. We need to use a Screw Driver. A Screw Driver

allows a user to loosen or tighten a screw. You can see it

in figure 3, what Screw Driver looks like. If you have the

screw driver ready, we can now start to detached the power

supply. First find the screws connected to the power supply.

You can find it at the back panel of the system unit. It has

3 screws connected, now loosen the screws using the screw

driver. Rotate it counter clockwise to loosen it. Now push

the power supply from the outside and lift it up carefully.

You now removed the power supply.

Findings is that In this figure. You need more force

to use. You need it in loosening the grip of the screws.

HARD DRIVE

Hard drive is what stores all your data. It houses the

hard disk, where all your files and folders are physically

located. A typical hard drive is only slightly larger than

your hand, yet can hold over 100 GB of data.

Figure 4: HARD DRIVE

Our goal/objective is to remove it from the System

Unit.

In this model removing the hard drive is easy. First

disconnect any cable connected to the HARD DRIVE. Then look

for a plastic connected at both side of the HARD DRIVE.

Press it both toward each other and lift it up carefully.

You can see it in figure 4 how it is done.

CPU FAN

CPU FAN is use to cool the CPU (central processing

unit) heat sink. Effective cooling of a concentrated heat

source such as large scale integrated circuit requires a

heat sink, which may be cooled by a fan; use of a fan alone

will not prevent overheating of the small chip

Figure 5: CPU FAN

Our goal/objective in this figure is to remove the CPU

fan and clean it.

THE CPU FAN in this kind of model is attached below the

hard drive so once you remove the HARD DRIVE. You removed

the CPU FAN too. You can see it in figure 5 how THE CPU FAN

was removed. Disconnect the cable connecting from the CPU

FAN from the MOTHERBOARD and you completely remove THE CPU

FAN.

The finding is that Removing THE CPU FAN is one of the

easiest to remove since you do it in figure 4.

HEAT SINK

HEAT SINK is a passive heat exchanger that transfers

the heat generated by an electronic or a mechanical device

to fluid medium, often air or a liquid coolant, where it is

dissipated away from the device, thereby allowing regulation

of the device’s temperature at optimal levels.

Heat sinks are used with high-power semiconductor

devices such as power transistors and optoelectronics such

as lasers and light emitting diodes (LED).

Figure 6: HEAT SINK

COLLEGE OF INFORMATION &COMPUTING SCIENCES.COLLEGE OF INFORMATION&COMPUTING SCIENCES

14
The goal/objective is to remove the heat sink from the

system unit. Removing it is a must because it blocks the

other components of the System Unit.

Most System Unit, HEAT SINK is located on top of the

System Unit. However, as I have said in the previous

figures. This model is different. HEAT SINK is a flat metal

that is connected to each other. It is located near the HARD

DRIVE. Removing it is similar to the HARD DRIVE but instead

of lock it has screws. You can see it in figure 4 how the

HARD DRIVE is removed. Loosen the grip of the 2 screws of

the HEAT SINK, after loosening the grip of the screws.

Carefully lift the HEAT SINK and you now removed it.

The finding is that the heat sink is dusty. That’s why

be sure to clean it. Use a brush to remove the dust that is

stock.

RAM (RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY) is the hardware in a

computing device where the operating system application

programs and data in current use are kept so they can be

quickly reached by the device’s processor.

Figure 7: RAM (RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY)

The goal/objective is to remove the RAM. Removing it

can aggressively can cause the RAM to not work properly.

To remove the RAM (RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY), push down on

both tabs holding the RAM in place which are located at both

ends of the RAM. You notice that the RAM seems to pop-out.

Deattached it by lifting it, holding only the edges of the

RAM and place it where it is safe.

The finding in this figure is that even though this is

a different system unit. Still it is similar to any System

Unit.

SYSTEM FAN is a fan inside, or attached to a computer

case used for active cooling, and may refer to fans that

draw cooler air into the case from the outside, expel warm

air from inside, or move air across a heat sink to cool a

particular component.

Figure 8: SYSTEM FAN

The goal/objective is to remove the system fan from the

system unit. Removing the system fan must be done first

before the MOTHERBOARD because the SYSTEM FAN blocks the

MOTHERBOARD.

To Remove the SYSTEM FAN look for the lock and unlock

it. You can unlock it by simply pinching the lock. You can

notice that the SYSTEM FAN now is easy to remove.

The finding for this figure is that the system fan

is similar to the CPU fan. It is also dusty.

MOTHERBOARD

MOTHERBOARD is the main printed circuit board in a

computer. The motherboard is a computer’s central

communications backbone connectivity point, through which

all components and external peripherals connect.

Figure 9: Motherboard

The goal/objective is to remove the Motherboarsd.

Motherboard is considered as the brain of the System Unit.

It consist a lots of chips, capacitor, resistor etc. the

said elements are fragile so you must be careful on removing

the MOTHERBOARD.

To remove the MOTHERBOARD, look for the screws

connected with it. It has 7 screws including the 2 screws

from the HEAT SINK. Loosen the grip of every screw and

carefully lift it up touching only the edges of the

MOTHERBOARD.

The findings in this figure is that the

Motherboard has the most screws used among the other

components. That’s why you need more force to remove it.

A clean computer is a happy computer, as dust, dirt,

and grime can lodge within the system to cause additional

heat buildup, resulting in premature wear to your system

hardware.

Figure 11: Cleaning the components

Yes, you did brush off the dusty parts while doing the

disassembling but doing it again is not bad. Make it as a

habit of yours. Make sure they are clean before assembling

it.

After disassembling all parts, keep in mind the orders

on how you did it. To not miss any components to assemble.

Figure 12: IT IS DONE!!!

About the assembling of the System Unit is similar in

Disassembling. You just have to put it back in its order.

After that make sure you clean and keep the tools in a safe

place. It is done!!! Congratulations.
