Time for Dictation : 9 Minutes

Time for Parts A & B : 2 Hours & 15 Minutes ] [ Maximum Marks : 100

Instructions to the Dictator :

(1) In this paper, a passage is to be dictated at the rate of 120 w.p.m. for NINE Minutes.
The passage in the first 4 minutes (480 words) consists of 5 questions on elaboration

and the remaining 5 minutes (600 words) consists of the passage for condensation.
The entire passage for 9 minutes should be dictated continuously; without any break.

(2) The following notes and passage are to be dictated in a loud and distinct voice, no
word or phrase being repeated and no punctuation marks being mentioned.

The notes and the passage are marked into periods of one minute’s duration and

these are further sub divided into quarters. The number of each question in the notes
and the words “Condense the following” should also be dictated. The dictator will
dictate with a watch in hand and see whether he is adhering to the time.

(4) The candidates must be told to elaborate the notes in long hand in proper form and

condense the passage into summary of about 200 words, using the indirect form of
speech and past tense and to indicate the number of the words at the end.

(5) Both the Shorthand and Longhand performances (along with the answers on Part B)

should be handed over to the Chief Superintendent.

(6) Immediately after the dictation is over, all the copies of the Shorthand Paper-II must
be sent in a sealed cover after duly signed by the Observer, Dictator and the Chief
Superintendent to the Secretary. State Board of Technical Education and Training.
