Minutes of the meeting held to discuss Strategies to combat late coming at Fundakahle Combined
School
The meeting was chaired by Mr Nkosi who permitted Mr Tembe to proceed as the member of the
Disciplinary Committee outlined how the situation worsened despite his committee closing the gate
at 07:30, he further stressed how negatively this issue will impact the final results, after which he
reprimanded Mr Thango for focusing on student's responsibilities instead of the school's reputation
and was seconded by Mr Peace who also supported Mr Nkosi's idea to increment schooling hours to
the afternoon as a deterrent before suggesting that Mr Tembe and Mr Hlabangane consult Scholar
Transport companies to be thirty minutes earlier during morning picks and Mr Hlabane agreed, he
then proposed physical work and cleaning the school as punishments for late comers – consultation
with the parents prior to implementation Mr Nkosi concluded.
According to Mr Tember, the majority of later comers are from Zenzeleni informal settlement and
he was seconded by Mr Hlabangane who recalls an unresolved pipe that burst, and this has been
witnessed by Pastor Moses as the community collects water from his church daily, he then
suggested Grade 12 learners be accommodated within the church with the added advantage of meals
due to adequate sponsors,then Mr Nkosi instructed Ms Peace to print consent forms for Grade 12
learners' parents, and to make an appointment with the Minister of Water and Sanitation with the
aim of a proposal on the community's behalf, then Mr Hlabangane volunteered to safeguard the
children and Mr Tember will guard the girls.
Finally, the meeting was adjourned by Mr Nkosi, after thanking the attendees.
