INTRODUCTION AND OUR AIM

Comp-matt is a company which aims to contribute towards the
sustainability of the environment along with fulfilling the basic needs of
humans. It heavily focuses on the recycling of old, torn, and not in use
fabrics/clothes in order to come up with a product that is used by
billions of people in this world.

An average consumer throws away 70 pounds (31.75 kilograms) of

clothing per year. According to the estimates, the textile industry generated
around 25 million tonnes of waste annually in Pakistan alone, 95% of
which could be recycled and ultimately reused.
The ratio of the amount of waste being discarded to the amount of recycling
being done is clearly an imbalance. Recycling on a larger level must be
done in order to balance the beam along with minimising the releases of
textile waste.

In order to battle the current situation we came up with an initiative cum

business model called “COMP-MATT”. Which makes use of large amounts
of discarded textile and passes it through an extreme hydraulic compressor
with a mattress shaped mould. The hydraulic compressor compresses the
textile with enough force to make it sit tight. Then with the addition of the
springs onto the compressed textile along with a layer of soft cotton the
product comes out as a ready to use mattress.

USES
These recycled mattresses are in no way different from the conventional
mattress that is currently being used by the masses.Hence, could be simply
placed on the bed’s frame or onto the ground for a comforting sleep.
Advantages
→ Reduces a heavy burden from the landfill sites. The discarded textile could
be collected from these sites or garbage yards which are already available in
large quantities throughout Pakistan.
→ The cost of these mattresses are many times lesser than the current ones.
Hence, the lower class could get their hands onto these mattresses.
→ The quality of the product that comes out matches the exact standards of
the current mattress. Which in no way leaves the room for any comfort
complaint.
→ Makes use of very limited machinery, labour work, and power.

DISADVANTAGES
→Since the mattress is being made from the recycled material, which
includes normal clothes and attires, a very large amount of it is needed in
order to manufacture a single mattress through compression. Which might be
a hurdle for the company in the upcoming few years when the demand of the
waste and the supply of the mattress varies.
→ The collection of the discarded textile from across the country is itself a
challenging task. Which requires an abundance of heavy trucks and drivers
spread throughout the country.
→ If the manufacturing plant is installed at a single place rather than spread
throughout the country and close to the landfill sites. Then the production
cost is going to increase heavily as in the form of more fuel consumption by
the trucks along with higher delivery time.

STRATEGY
The strategy we’re going to be using is the “Penetration Strategy”. The
mattress industry has already been established and ruled by some of
the kingkongs such as “Diamond”, and “Molty Foam”. Which means
the only way we could catch the eyes of the customers is through
penetrating the market with lower rates. Lowering the rate might be
really beneficial for us because the current rates per mattress are
pretty much enough to make a lower middle class person to think
before shifting from the wooden beds, called “Char Pai” to mattress
beds.

PRICE
The cost per recycled mattress goes around PKR 10,000 - 15,000.
There are two factors that influence this price. Which goes as:
1) In order to follow the penetrating strategy. The prices must be
kept lower than the competitors. The competitor’s prices start
from PKR 25,000 and cross the PKR 100,000 mark.
2) The mattress made from the conventional ways, which require a
lot of machinery plus quality labour work, tend to have higher
production costs and ultimately a lesser profit margin if the
selling cost is set within the range of affordability. The
mattresses produced by Comp-Matt are made from the recycled
products and moulded through a strong hydraulic compressor.
The cost of production comparatively lies lower than the
conventional way.
Which goes around PKR 5,000 - 7,000. Hence, leaves a lare
margin of profit for the company.

PLACES
The production plant would be installed in the financial capital of
Pakistan, Karachi. Karachi holds an immense importance in the textile
industry with having the largest textile works in the entire country.
Which ultimately means that Karachi tends to have the highest
amount of textile waste. Hence, adding towards a smooth operation of
our company.
