Title- Familiarisation with RJ45 Connector.


Description & -

 “RJ” stands for Registered Jack and 45 refers to a simple interface standard.
 It has eight pins and contains eight separate wires
 Commonly used for Ethernet networking.
 Looks quite similar to telephone jack but wider.
 Ethernet cables have RJ45 connector at each end therefore they are also known as RJ45
cables.
 Two wiring schemes–T568A and T568B–are used to terminate the twisted-pair cable onto
the connector interface.

Characteristics-

 RJ45 cable consist of –


1. UTP (unshielded twisted Pair) cable.
2. RJ45 connector at both ends of UTP cable
3. Boot /cap

 The connector structure has three parts-
 Contact
 Insulator
 Shell or Housing

Advantages-

 RJ45 jacks are convenient for connecting up devices.


 HDMI extenders.
 Video Camera.
 Telephones.
 VOIP phones.
 Computers.
 IP Cameras.
 WAP devices. (WIFI)
 Printers.
 T1 connections
 Very reliable
 Easy to install
 High speed connection

Disadvantages-

 Only used for short distance network


 Limited mobility
 Requires necessary wiring and equipments.

Discussion-

 First we have to cut the LAN cable at both end with the help of the cutter. then
 separate the twisted pair wires in 4 pairs and cut the plastic and separate the cables in
following order-

 Then insert the connector as every point can be seen. then


 with the help of crimping to crimped together.
 Then with the help of tester we test the connection.
