VI. Course Code/Title GEC 7/ Science, Technology and Society
The course deals with interactions between science and technology and social, cultural, political, and economic contexts that
shape and are shaped by them. (CMO No. 20, series of 2013)
This interdisciplinary course engages students to confront the realities brought about by science and technology in society. Such
realities pervade the personal, the public, and the global aspects of our living and are integral to human development. Scientific

A. General Policy
C. Course Policies Each student will be given a module for the subject. Submission of requirements shall be on or before the date
agreed upon by the students and the faculty. Late submission will earn a grade of 3.0.
B. Online Policies
1. Students are required to enroll in the Google Classroom (GC. All materials relevant to the course will be
uploaded in the GC, including assignments and quizzes.
2. Compliance to the requirements shall be uploaded through GC on or before the set schedule, unless otherwise
the mode and the date of submission are revised.
3. Students are required to join the group chat through the Messenger, participation in the
synchronous/asynchronous online discussion is highly encourage; updates/announcement shall also be posted
through this medium as an additional platform of dissemination.
4. Plagiarism is penalized under Board Resolution No. 29, series of 2019; hence, shall be avoided.
C. Face to face Policies
1. Wearing of mask and observance of social distancing shall be observed.
2. Use of cellphones, earphones and other gadgets that are not necessary for the instruction is not allowed.
3. Participate in the scheduled face to face activities for the laboratory and perform laboratory experiments.
4. Cheating during examination is strictly prohibited; students caught doing such act shall be dealt as provided in
the Student Handbook
