Case
• A 28 year old woman comes to your office for treatment of her recurring
bladder infections. She says she has been having bladder infections about
once a month for the last 6 months. Her urine cultures grows E. Coli, and she
has responded each time to antibiotic therapy but she says she is tired of
continuing to get them.
• On interview you find that 6 months ago she began a with new sexual
relationship a new partner. After gentle questioning you find out that
although she is very in love with this new man, she has been
disappointed by him as well. He can be quite rude, which she is very
sensitive to, as well as insensitive and insulting. She finds herself
becoming angry and offended at him, but has a hard time telling him,
and instead holds these feeling inside.
• With the bladder infections she has the sensation that drops of urine are
continually rolling inside her urethra.
• Finally she confesses that since being so upset in her new relationship, she
has started smoking again, but she is so embarrassed that no one knows, and
she almost didn’t tell you.
