1. Introduction
30m Self supporting Monopole to be constructed to support:
- 9 GSM Antennae at top.
- 2 MWs antennae 1.2m dia. at 30M.
- 2 MWs antennae 1.2m dia. at top 20M.
The design shall be according to ANSI/TIA-222-G standard.

2. Design Basics
The design shall be according to ANSI/TIA-222-G standard.
The following is the main design parameters:

1-Basic basic wind speed = 180 km/hr .

2-Limiting Monopole deflection to 1.0 degree under operational Basic wind speed = 126m/hr.
3-Datum for wind speed shall be 10 m above ground.
4-The Structure Class to be considered as II for the tower and the Exposure categories will be 'B'.

3. Materials
3.1. Shafts
The shafts materials shall be according to BS EN 10025 grade S235J0 or Equiv. With the following
Mechanical properties :
Min. yield strength in N/mm2 = 235 for thickness <= 16 mm
= 225 for thickness > 16 & < 40 mm
= 215 for thickness > 40 & < 63 mm
2
Min tensile strength in N/mm = 340 for thickness > 3 & < 100 mm

3.2. Other Sections

For all other sections for plat forms, ladder, cable rack,…etc. materials shall be according to BS EN 10025
grade S235J0 or Equiv. With the following Mechanical properties :
Min. yield strength in N/mm2 = 235 for thickness <= 16 mm

= 225 for thickness > 16 & < 40 mm

= 215 for thickness > 40 & < 63 mm

Min tensile strength in N/mm2 = 340 for thickness > 3 & < 100 mm

4. Monopole Loads

4.1. Wind speed

Basic wind speed is 180 km/hr.

Operational basic wind speed is 126 km/hr.
The Monopole shall be designed to support:
- 9 GSM Antennae at top.
- 2 MWs antennae 1.2m dia. at 30M.
- 2 MWs antennae 1.2m dia. at 20M.

In addition to the wind loads on monopole pipes and the head frame platform.
Calculation on pole , antenna ,microwave antenna and platform is estimated according to ANSI/TIA-222-G
standard in the attachment files.

5. About STAAD-Pro Software

5.1. General:
The analysis of the Monopole was accomplished with STAAD-Pro computer software from Research
Engineers, Inc. It is a comprehensive structural software that addresses all aspects of structural engineering-
model development, analysis, design, verification and visualization. STAAD-Pro is based on the principles
of concurrent engineering where you can build a model, verify it graphically, perform analysis/design,
review the results, etc.

5.2. Type Of Structures :

STAAD-Pro is capable of analyzing and designing structures consisting of both frame and plate/shell
elements. It can analyze almost any structure, most general is the spaced structure which is a three
dimensional framed structure with loads applied in any plane.

5.3. Results:
The Monopole is modeled as a space structure by the software. It is required to specify Monopole section
properties and coordinates together with self weight, antenna and other Monopole loading. Attached are
STAAD-Pro output which will be used to verify the adequacy of the section provided versus actual stresses.

1. Maximum factorized forces in Monopole section at survival wind speed.

2. Maximum working foundation reaction at survival wind speed.
3. Maximum rotation of monopole at operation wind speed.

8. Summary of the output:

8.1. Foundation loads (Working Reaction)

Refer to the Staad Pro Output, the Following is the working reaction:
Axial compression force = 60.91 KN
Shear force = 44.32 KN
Bending moment = 952.55 KN.m

8.2. Max. Monopole tilt

Refer to the Staad Pro Output, the Following is the max. Monopole Tilt (at top of Monopole) :
At wind speed = 126 km/hr
Tilt = 0.0126 x 180/3.141 = 0.819< 1.0 º degree O.K.

9. Conclusion:
The proposed monopole is satisfactory to withstand all developed loads during operation and
Installation and will satisfy all serviceability requirements
