C) Determine the number and percent of respondents from Gender?

Explain your observations (4 Marks)

Frequency Percent Valid Cumulative Percent

Percent
Males 11 55.0 55.0 55.0
Females 9 9 45.0 100.0
Total 20 20 100.0

The total number of respondents is 20.

Eleven (11) of the respondents were males translating to 55% of the total respondents and the rest (9) are females
which translates to 45% of the total respondents. This means that the majority of the respondents (55%) were males
and the least percentage of the respondents is for females (only 45%)

d) Determine the number and percent of female smokers?

Explain your statistics (4 marks)

Statistics

Smoking status of respondent

Frequency Percent Valid Cumulative Percent
Percent
Yes 7 77.8 77.8 77.8
No 2 22.2 22.2 100.0
Total 9 100.0 100.0
The number of female smokers is 7 out of the 9 which translates to 77.8%. Therefore the prevalence of smoking
among females is 77.8% and while only 22.2% of the females that do not smoke

e) Compare means of weight for gender. Explain your statistics (5marks)

Null hypothesis: There mean weight for males and females is similar.

Alternative hypothesis: The mean weight for males and females is different.

From the table above, the p.Value of 0.001 is less than 0.05. We therefore reject the null
hypothesis and instead accept the Alternative hypothesis.

Therefore; there is a strongly significant difference in weight between males and females.
Therefore One’s weight is related to his or her gender.
