Learning Outcomes:
At the end of the module, you are expected to:
1. Identify the issues and challenges faced by minority groups in the Philippines; and
2. Analyze the Philippine government’s plans and actions to solve issues and challenges faced by
minority groups, as well as the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals in relation to indigenous
communities.
3. Evaluate the actions carried out by the Philippine government in addressing indigenous peoples’
issues.

Formative Assessment 5
Instructions: Choose one topic (these are the issues and challenges mentioned in the material):

Choice # 1 - Land reform in IP’s land Choice # 5 - Discrimination towards IP

Choice # 2 - IP’s diaspora Choice # 6 - IP’s access to social services
Choice # 3 - IP’s tagged as communist Choice # 7 - IP’s freedom to practice traditions
Choice # 4 - IP’s right to self-determination

Afterwards, write a problem-solution essay that would relate concepts from the materials, as well as the
actions, measures, or legislation that the government provided (or should provide) in order to address this
challenge/issue. As per our main material, indigenous communities have long practiced sustainability. Take
into consideration the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the UN and the lack of specificity regarding IPs
and their contributions to humanity.
