Lesson Plan in English

I. Objectives

Having read the poem “if” by ee cummings, the pupils will be able to
achieve the following objectives with 80% proficiency:

a) Unlock difficult words through the “wordsline game”


b) Recite the poem with proper feelings

A. Setting of background

Short biography of the author (1894-1962)

 Edward Estlin “E.E” Cummings (October 15, 1894 – September 3,


1962), often styled as e e cummings, as he sometimes signed his
name, was an American poet, painter, essayist, author, and playwright.
He wrote approximately 2900 poems, two autobiographical novels, four
plays, and several essays.
B. Motivation
What do you see in the picture? (Genie, Magic, Watch)
Have you ever wanted to use magic? Why?
What does a watch mean to you?
C. Unlocking of Difficulties

The “wordsline game” where the words are attached on a clip and the
meanings are written on shirt-shaped papers. They need to clip the correct
word to the paper and make their own sentences after.

Plight – a dangerous, difficult situation

Pretense – an attempt to make something that is not the case appear true
Plucky – having or showing courage in the face of difficulties

For on such a pretense
You wouldn’t be you.

If fear was plucky, and globes were square


And dirt was cleanly and tears were glee
Things would seem fair, -
