PAST PERFECT TENSE

Subject + had + past participle

EXAMPLES:
Silverfinger had taken the pill before the team reached
him.
(First: He took the pill. Next: The team reached him.)
FORMING THE PAST PERFECT TENSE – REGULAR VERB

Had +Base form of the verb + ed/d

EXAMPLES:
They had played football in that field before it started to
rain.

FORMING PAST PERFECT TENSE – IRREGULAR VERB

Had + Past participle form of the irregular verb

EXAMPLES:
