Apparatus: Compressor, FRL unit, pneumatic direction control valve, Pneumatic actuator, Power supply for solenoid valve
Switch etc.
Theory:
In electro pneumatic system , the DCVs are controlled by electric supply. Signals can be transmitted to great distances without
any leakage and loss as compared to pure pneumatic system. Further time between signal transmission and signal reception is
minimized.
Electropneumatic system has two roles:
1. Sensing the information
2. Processing information
Switches:
Switches have following configuration
1. Normally open (NO)
2. Normally closed (NC)
3. Changeover contacts (CO)
Relay Coil
Logic Blocks using Switch :
AND blocks- when switches are connected in series , then both switches S1 and S2 must be ON to give output
OR Blocks- switches are connected in parallel . so when any one switch is active , circuit will be completed
Memory block:
Relays and switch contacts can be used to hold solenoid valve active for extended period without the need to apply additional signal
In above circuit, once S1 is pressed then K1 coil will be activated and K 1 contact closes. Even after releasing S1, K1 coil remains active .
Limit Switch:
When lever is pressed , limit switch connects contacts and current flows through circuit.
Solenoid Valve:
Solenoid DCVs receives electric supply and then controls the passage of compressed air to actuators .
When switch s1 is pressed then Relay coil K1 gets energized and it will close contact K1 and suplly will be
given to solenoid Y1. Electric circuit shown is at retracted position of cylinder.
