• The international student insurance (20,000 KRW) required by the university must be paid at the same time as
Insurance Fee tuition. Registration will be denied if insurance premiums are not paid.
• Students who did not meet the Korean language standards and took a leave of absence will have their
international student insurance premium refunded between September and October.

• Students who do not satisfy Korean standards and has to take a leave of absence in the fall of 2021 must also
pay the tuition fee in order to enroll at Hanyang University. Students' admission will be revoked if they do not

HANYANG KOREAN LANGUAGE TEST
- Students who do not meet the HYU Korean language standard may take the Hanyang University
Korean language test.
- If the test taker passes, the Korean language standard will be automatically changed to ‘PASS.’
Test-Related Guidance - Those who wish to enroll in Hanyang University must pay the tuition fee regardless of their test
results. Even if students pass the Korean Language Test, admission will be revoked if the
tuition fees are not paid.

1) Test is conducted online, and only the test taker is permitted to participate.
2) The test taker must be in a secluded place where they will not be disturbed by others.
3) Test takers will be disqualified if the test is not taken or if they do not access the program by specified time.
4) Test takers must bring their passports or ID cards. Those who do not have a valid ID will be unable to take the test.
5) If test takers do not follow the supervisor's instructions, make suspicious eye movements, or move in an unnecessary
manner during the test, it will be considered cheating. Then the test may automatically terminate, resulting in a failure.
Note 6) If inappropriate behavior is observed, admission may be revoked.
(Read carefully) 7) The exam session will be recorded at all times and can be used as evidence. It is the test taker's responsibility to avoid
situations, such as an unstable network environment, that may result in disadvantages.
8) If test takers take the test on a wireless Internet (WIFI) or an unstable network environment, network connectivity may be
lost and you may face disadvantages.
9) The test will only be given once. Before taking the test, please read the guidelines and attend the orientation.
10) Details about the test will be sent via email.
11) Those who pass the Korean test will be able to begin their degree program in the Fall (September) of 2021.
DORM APPLICATION
For the prevention of the spread of COVID-19 and the safety of
Seoul Campus Dorm Application students, the requested room assignment may be changed at any time.

※ Dormitories on the SEOUL Campus will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis to those who apply for dorms.
(International students can only reside in the dorm during their first semester of enrollment.)
※ Students who did not apply for dorms or were not assigned to dorms must look for housing on their own.

7 Choose a building and room type (You can check dorm building room type via website).

10 Application is completed. Click “room assignment”.

11 You can check the available floors. Choose “floor”

If there is no room or bed available, return to the application page, log in, and restart.
12-2 Select a different building and room type, then click the “modification” button. However, if you click “room number
assignment application,” you will be taken to the previously selected building and room type.

SELF-QUARANTINE

Self-quarantine

★International students, whether vaccinated or not, must self-quarantine for two weeks.
– Those who fail to comply with self-quarantine orders face up to a year in prison or a 10-million won fine.
– If one incurs any loss in the nation due to violation of self-quarantine instructions, he/she may be subject to claims for damages.
– Those who violate the self-quarantine instructions will be responsible for their COVID-19 medical expenses.
– If quarantine measures are not followed, such as unauthorized departure from the quarantine site during self-quarantine, the wrist
safety band will be put on. If one continues to refuse to comply, he/she it is refused, he or she will be placed in quarantine at a
government facility. (The violator must pay the fee.)

1. Those subject to self-quarantine: All incoming passengers to Korea (both on direct flights and for stopovers)
2. Self-quarantine period: Until 12:00 PM of the 14th day from the day of entering Korea
ex. If you enter Korea on February 1st, you must be quarantined until February 15th, 12:00 PM.

Guideline for English Placement Test (1)

1. All undergraduate international students for 2021 Fall semester are required to take English Placement Test
(Exception: transferred students, International studies and Data Science students. Those who are exempted from
the test cannot take Basic Academic English or Professional Academic English during their school years.)
2. Test Duration

2) Duration: 90 mins (Students who do not take all of the tests will be assigned to the lowest level automatically.)
① Reading & Listening: 60 minutes
② Essay Writing: 30 minutes (for checking the essay topic, writing an essay)

register these courses, their registration will be cancelled at the discretion of the professor.
※ It is strongly recommended to take a Professional Academic English in your 2 nd year. Postponing this
course to a later semester might cause a delayed graduation as the last two years of university will
be mostly spent on taking major courses.

※ If you did not submit any of the original documents listed below, please do so by Aug 31 (Tue),
2021. (Registered students will be notified via e-mail of their additional documents.)

(1) If you did not submit the documents or only submitted photocopies of transcripts, graduation certificates,
and so on, you must re-submit the consul's confirmation documents or apostille certified copies.
(2) Applicants who submitted an expected graduation or enrollment certificate from their high school or
previous university must submit certified copies of their graduation and final transcripts to the Office of
International Affairs as soon as they are issued.
(3) If they have not already done so, transfer students must submit their final certificate of graduation and
transcripts in accordance with the guidelines. (※ Transferred students must submit the final
transcript certificate by July 30 (Fri), or their previous school credits may not be transferred.
Students will face all of the consequences if they submit their documents late.)

(4) Students who submitted a scanned file or English notarized documents as a result of COVID-19 must
resubmit the original documents following the admission guidelines.

Your acceptance will be canceled if the documents are not submitted by the deadline.
LEAVE OF ABSENCE

Info about Leave of Absence

1) Those who do not satisfy Korean standards do not need to apply for a leave of absence as it
will be automatically processed by OIA for the first semester of admission in the first week of
September.

2) Students may take a leave of absence up to 1 year at a time. If you want to take a leave of
absence in a row or re-register, you must apply through the HY-in, Hanyang University online
portal system. (Maximum duration of leave of absence: 3 years)

NOTE

1) Those who do not satisfy Korean standards should take a leave of absence. If not, the tuition
fee will not be saved.
2) Students who do not satisfy Korean standards cannot apply for Student(D-2) Visa as they have to
take a leave of absence for the first semester.
3) Those who applied for Hanyang University Institute of International Education(IIE) can receive
Standard Certificate of Admission for language training(D-4) visa from Hanyang University IIE.
4) Students can re-register during the re-registration period, which will be announced on the OIA
website (http://oia.hanyang.ac.kr/), once they satisfy Korean standards.

Entry Deadline for the Fall of 2021

Starting from 2021 Fall semester, mid-term/final exams and classes with less than 30 students are all conducted
offline. Henceforth all enrolled international students must enter Korea before 2021.09.01 (Wed), the start
of fall semester.
However, students who are unable to enter the country due to unavoidable reasons such as visa issuance
restrictions or flight reservations delays, must enter the country by the final entry deadline which is 2021.09.21
(Tue).

※ Measures for non-entry after 2021.09.21: Cancellation of student visa (D-2) and entry restriction
through the Immigration Office
→ During the fall semester (Sep 22, 2021 ~ Feb 28, 2022), entry to Korea, alternative lectures, and
assessments are not available.
→ If entry is impossible due to personal reasons, one must apply for a leave of absence through

■ Reason for Specifying the Deadline for Entry Date
– Due to enforced immigration guidelines of the Ministry of Justice, the standard admission certificate, mandatory for

– According to Hanyang University’s <Social Distancing Levels of Classes and Exams for 2021 Fall semester>, as
entire Seoul campus class exam is conducted offline, students must enter the country.

Self-quarantine

★International students, whether vaccinated or not, must self-quarantine for two weeks.
– Those who fail to comply with self-quarantine orders face up to a year in prison or a 10-million won fine.
– If one incurs any loss in the nation due to violation of self-quarantine instructions, he/she may be subject to claims for damages.
– Those who violate the self-quarantine instructions will be responsible for their COVID-19 medical expenses.
– If quarantine measures are not followed, such as unauthorized departure from the quarantine site during self-quarantine, the wrist

and so on, you must re-submit the consul's confirmation documents or apostille certified copies.
(2) Applicants who submitted an expected graduation or enrollment certificate from their high school or
previous university must submit certified copies of their graduation and final transcripts to the Office of
International Affairs as soon as they are issued.

(3) Leave of absence duration: One year
- If students do not re-register, their academic status will be changed to "expelled.“

• If you decide to drop out from university while on a leave of absence, 5/6 of the tuition fee will be refunded.

the OIA will receive group visa applications between August and September. Only those who have paid their tuition fees and are eligible will
be notified via e-mail about the details (application period, requirements, application fee, etc.).
