MID TERM EXAM 2020
A Magnetic Personality
The personality of an ideal teacher should be such that can easily draw the attention of every
student towards him. He should create such an impact that every student would love to attend his
class.
Teaching Style
He should have a lucid style of teaching so that the students should never feel bored. He should
encourage the students to ask questions related to the topic to clear their doubts, if any.
The inductive method of teaching means that the teacher presents the rule through situations and
sentences and does guided practice, then the learners do free practice. After that, the teacher
deduces or elicits the rule form from the learners themselves by themselves. An inductive
approach to teaching language starts with examples and asks learners to find rules. It can be
compared with a deductive approach that starts by giving learners rules, then examples, then
practice.
Example
Learners listen to a conversation that includes examples of the use of the third conditional. The
teacher checks that the students understand the meaning of its use through checking learners'
comprehension of the listening text, and only after this focuses on the form, using the examples
from the text to elicit rules about the form, its use and its pronunciation.
In the classroom
Inductive approaches to presenting new language are commonly found in course books, and form
part of a general strategy to engage learners in what they learn. Some learners may need
introduction to inductive approaches since they may be more familiar, and feel more
comfortable, with a deductive approach
Deductive Approach
A deductive approach to teaching language starts by giving learners rules, then examples, then
practice. It is a teacher-centered approach to presenting new content. This is compared with an
inductive approach, which starts with examples and asks learners to find rules, and hence is more
learner-centered.
Example
The form and use of the third conditional is explained to learners, then they have a gap-fill
exercise to complete, then prepare their own examples.
In the classroom
The deductive approach may be suitable with lower level learners who need a clear base from
which to begin with a new language item, or with learners who are accustomed to a more
traditional approach and so who lack the training to find rules themselves.
Planning ahead to identify a course of action that can effectively help learners reach their goals
and objectives is an important first step in effective instruction. Lesson planning communicates
to learners what they will learn and how their goals will be assessed, and it helps instructors
organize content, materials, time, instructional strategies, and assistance in the class-room. A
lesson plan is a teacher’s detailed description of the course of instruction or ‘learning trajectory
‘for a lesson. A daily lesson plan is developed by a teacher to guide class learning.
Details may vary depending on the preference of the teacher, subject being covered, and the
needs of the students. There may be requirements mandated by the school system regarding the
plan. A lesson plan is the teacher’s guide for running the particular lesson, and it includes the
goal( what the students are supposed to learn), how the goal will be reached( the method,
procedure) and a way of measuring how well the goal was reached ( test, worksheets, homework
etc. Every teacher is required to prepare a lesson plan because this is considered as guide for the
day’s lessons. Lesson planning is important because it gives the teacher a concrete direction of
what she/he wants to take up for the day.
Lesson planning is important because it helps teachers ensure that the day-to-day activities that
go on in their classrooms are providing students with an adequate level of long –term progress
toward the goals outlined in their scope and sequence, as well as their individual education plans
when necessary.
An effective lesson plan includes several elements: learning objectives, quality questions,
supplies and activities. It is important to have the learning objectives in mind because those
should drive the development and implementation of all activities in the classroom. Quality
questions are inquiries that the teacher plans to direct at the students over the course of the
lesson.
