I. OBJECTIVE
This experiment is designed
- to determine the heat absorbed by the cold substance
- to determine the amount of energy given off by the hot substance
- to determine the amount of heat needed to melt an ice cube/cubes
- to measure the latent heat of fusion of ice by the method of calorimetry

III. COMPUTATIONS AND ANALYSIS

IV. CONCLUSIONS

V. QUESTIONS AND PROBLEMS

1. Since fusion and melting do not result into temperature change, where does the energy go?

2. How much heat is absorbed by an electric refrigerator in changing 2 kg of water at 150C to ice at
-50C?

3. Determine the resulting temperature when 150 g of ice at -30C is mixed with 300 g of water at 500C.
