Proud to be a Bosconian

By : Bjorn Kian C. Magana

Being a bosconian is harder than it looks because you need to have faith in God, have a
rosary in your pocket, respecting your elders, and serve the Lord with holy joy but the thing here
is that sometimes you forget all of those things when you’re leaving the school where Don
Bosco has taught you on how to become a Bosconian and a servant leader.

I was a Bosconian for about 12 years and I never imagined that I would stay longer in
Don Bosco Technical College Mandaluyong City. My father was the one who decided to make
me study in that school because he was a bosconian before during his time where he was very
faithful and generous to other people. I wonder why I would stay for such a longer period of time
in Don Bosco. However, I see a lot of changes for the past 12 years of being a Bosconian like
the changes in the Canteen, the Library, the Basketball Court, the Gym, the Savio Quadrangle,
the Playground,The Classroom, the Registrar and the Big Chapel. It was very fascinating to see
how my school changes from time to time and maybe someday Don Bosco Schools would be a
University for all the students around the world. I have so many experiences here in Don Bosco
because you can have many friends and a loving teachers in Don Bosco and also they have
good quality of education and specialized subjects that are very interesting for the students like
Nihongo, Shop Practice, Shop Theory, and Robotics that would benefit the students in their
future. They also have special events that would be memorable to every bosconians like the
Cheer Dance Competition (CDC), Intramurals, Don Bosco Film Fest, Retreats, Field Trips,
Youth Leadership Camp, Foundation Day, and the Graduation Day because they would never
forget the joyous moments they have with their friends, family and teachers.

The Mary Help of Christian was the one who called students like me to go to this school
because Mary wants us to be faithful servant leaders of Don Bosco where I’m so grateful that I
am a true Bosconian who became a servant leader to my fellow bosconians. I learned so many
new things here in this school like I played so many sports that I’m so passionate about like
taekwondo, soccer, swimming, volleyball, badminton, and frisbee. I also learned how to dance in
this school where I join a dance group named D’Scouts and gain new friends where you learn
from each other and enjoy performing in school events even in dance competitions. I was able
to be happy all the time because I gained new friends, new talents, and new experiences where
i was able to learn something new everyday and that was the best thing that I have done in my
life but now I would leave this school and start a new chapter where I would able to start facing
new challenges that’s coming on my way which is to adapt to a new environment and be able to
find new set of friends and also to gain new talents and experiences in a new school that I
would enroll. Moreover, I promise to myself that i would work harder than my previous years in
order to achieve my goals and dreams in the future like having a dream house, a dream car, a
dream job/career, a ticket to travel in tourist destinations and the things that I can’t afford during
my days like like luxurious items like watch, bags, coats, game consoles and other expensive
items.
Nevertheless, I would never forget that I am a true bosconian whenever I go and no
matter what because this is what I am where I rather die being a bosconian because I love
Saint. John Bosco and I would always serve the Lord with holy joy and I’m so thankful for my
parents who enrolled me in this school which helps me grow as a good citizen and a role model
to others.
