OUTSTANDING NEW JCI MEMBER 2020

A. WHAT RESPONSIBILITIES DID THIS PERSON TAKE ON AS A JCI MEMBER?

As a new member, it is exemplary to note that the nominee, JCI Jayzalie Jajurie, had
successfully carried out roles and responsibilities on various JCI Jolo activities. During her
journey as Baby Jaycee, she was elected as Vice President of her batch, the Sahaya batch.
Together with the batch’s president, they led their batchmates to be full-pledged JCI
member.

And upon assumption of the new local organization president, she became one of the board
of directors as Assistant Secretary, where she effectively assisted and abetted to the tasks
and responsibilities of the Secretary.

Aside from the secretariat duties, she also became the local organization’s asset in hosting
affairs. Though, a newbie, she managed to get the trust and confidence of the JCI Jolo
members as she was tasked to host “Level Up Tausug on Stage”—a show for cause
conducted by the local organization. Throughout the 41st Boys and Girls week celebration,
she hosted and facilitated various events steered during the week-long event, from the
opening ceremony, academic competition, cultural contest and the search for the
Ambassador and Ambassadress of 41st Boys and Girls week.

Aside from being noteworthy host and facilitator, her participation in JCI Jolo’s activities
immediately took a leap as she was given a significant task to be a resource speaker on
Breast Cancer Awareness to the women in the community of barangay Asturias during the
Pinay Power Project in line with International Women’s Day Celebration.

And from being the frontline speaker in JCI Jolo’s activity, she eventually ventured in
handling an activity as project chairman. Just recently, September 03, 2020, she chaired JCI
Jolo’s Project “Hope Floats” at Barangay Bubuan, Hadji Panglima Tahil, which schemes on
providing recycled floaters to seaweed farmers. In addition, provision of family grocery
pack and “new normal starter pack” to wives of the seaweeds farmer and feeding program
to day care children and elementary pupils in the barangay was also conducted.

B. HOW DID THIS MEMBER’S CONTRIBUTION BENEFIT HIS OR HER LOCAL ORGANIZATION?

As been elaborated above, JCI Jayzalie Jajurie, which is a new JCI member, easily tagged
along and embodied the virtue that “Service to Humanity is the best Work of Life” as she
took various responsibilities even with the short period of time engaging in the
organization.

With her active participation, the organization found an “on-the-spot facilitator” of which
even on events she is not prepared still she managed to facilitate and expedite activities
very well and with grace under pressure.
As a new member, it is with exemplary notion, that she already was able to touch the lives
and be a change agent to the women in the community of barangay Asturias as she shared
to them her knowledge, as a Registered Nurse by profession, about Breast Cancer
Awareness during the Pinay Power Project of JCI Jolo.

Through her effective and efficient teaching as a resource speaker, doubts and uncertainties
of the women of barangay Asturias regarding breast cancer were given answer and clarity.
Women who attended the seminar gain knowledge and skills on what is breast cancer, how
can it be prevented, and how can it be detected early. She became one of the organization’s
resource speakers on health-related topics.

C. WHAT WORK HAS THIS PERSON DONE IN THE COMMUNITY?

Before her entry to the JCI Jolo, JCI Jayzalie Jajurie, has always been active in various
activities in the community. Way back her student nurse life, she had been an active
member of Jolo Emergency Rescue Network Inc. (JERN Inc.) in which she became part of
those who immediately responds to various emergency situation in Metro Jolo.

She also became a student leader during her college life and eventually became member of
Student Action Force, which awaken her innate leadership disposition. Together other
student government members, she advocated and steered different student-advocate
programs in Sulu State College, her alma mater.

Later on her teenage years, she ventured in the world of pageantry. Starting from school-
based pageants to community-based ones. She sees these as an avenue to advocate women
empowerment and inclusivity. She became the Binibining Jolo 2015 which widens her voice
and platform for her advocacies.

Post-graduation, she ventured in reaching out to group of indigenous people in the


community, she reached and coordinated and assessed them, which became easy for her as
it was associated with her nature of work as Municipal Link under the Department of Social
Welfare and Development.

It is noteworthy that she has always been active in reaching out to the community in
whatever way it may seem, and being a JCI Jolo member gave her a larger opportunity to
continue her endeavor.

D. HOW HAS THIS WORK BENEFITED THE COMMUNITY?

As been particularized, her community engagements, whether small or big impacted the
community positively. As Jolo Emergency Rescue Network Inc. (JERN Inc.) member she
amended the community during disastrous and emergency situations. During the flashflood
of February 2010, she was one of those who immediately responded the flood victims,
although she is a victim herself. She did not thought of that way, rather thought of that the
community need more of her help.

As student leader, she developed and involve students the college’s activities and was able
to represent the college on PACSA 2015 at Baguio City and bringing home insights and
intuitions which she eventually shared to the college students.
As she became the Binibining Jolo 2015, with a wider avenue and platform, she advocated a
large array of community activities deemed appropriate to her title and reign. She
participated in youth-oriented activities, environmental activities and other civic service
undertakings.

Moreover, as she turned out to be the Municipal Link of the the Department of Social
Welfare and Development, she was able to process and open doors to poor and
marginalized sectors of the community, particularly in Hadji Panglima Tahil and Panamao
municipality. She fought oppressors with her rigid and upright policies against
misrpresentation beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilya Pilipino Program and bestowed the
right to rightful ones.

E. PLEASE LIST ANY PREVIOUS AWARDS OR ACCOLADES THIS MEMBER HAS RECEIVED.

Not much to mention, the nominee, JCI Jayzalie Jajurie did not gain any award or recognition
relevant to her undertakings in the community aside from her pageantry titles, which are:
Miss SSC Nursing 2012, Miss SSC 1st Runner-up and Binibining Jolo 2015.

F. DETAIL THE MEMBER’S PARTICIPATION IN TRAINING AND ORIENTATION PROGRAMS.

The entrant, JCI Jayzalie Jajurie, has always been active in attending training and orientation
programs both conducted by JCI Jolo or her work place. In attending training and
orientation programs, her motto is, QUALITY OVER QUANTITY. That is why on every
seminar, orientation, and/or training she attended she made sure that she will cull out
learning insights and discernments from the topic being relayed and deliberated.

G. DETAIL THE MEMBER’S PARTICIPATION IN COMMUNITY AND INTERNATIONAL EVENTS.

Ever since she became part of JCI Jolo, JCI Jayzalie Jajurie, see to it that whenever she is free
from work and other commitment she will always participate in various community
activities of JCI Jolo such as ____________ (kah butangi na activities sn JCI dh ko kaingatan n

She served without hesitation and with sincerity and shows consistency in hands-on
engagement in activities geared toward community development.
