What makes a human a human?

Human as a concept is such a broad brush. It covers almost everything in this world
and depending on who you ask, the answer will most probably be different from person to
person, so what makes a human a human?

The first thing that pops in my head when I think of human is imperfection. Humans
are full of imperfections and flaws, and with imperfections, comes insecurities. Within a
human insecurity does not always have to be negative. Insecurity is one of the reasons why
humans strive to a goal. It is why we work hard, and it is also why we succeed. Being
insecure ensures that a person will always want to prove to themselves that their insecurities
are just that, insecurities.

Contrary to being imperfect, perfection is also a human trait. While imperfections are
what humans already have, perfection is something we as a species exerts to almost
everything with our fingerprints. Where we live, what we eat and what we wear, we try our
hardest to perfect all of it, yet everyone’s perception of perfection can be different.

This leads to the next trait of what makes a human a human, uniqueness. Human as a
whole shares a lot of the same traits and are pretty much alike collectively. But in this
likeness, each human is different. Two people may share the same taste in music yet may
have a wildly different opinions on whether the next season of ‘Stranger Things’ is good or
not.

It is the concoction of these traits that makes a human a human, at least in my opinion.
It is quite a herculean task to list all of what makes a human a human, which is why there are
literally a whole branch of academic study on the subject, but mentioned above are, in brief,
what I think makes a human a human.
