Install vCenter

Add ESX host to vCenter.

Connect to ESX via vCenter.

1.Creat1 VM in workstation , select Windows 2003 EE x64 as a guest OS

How to install vCenter Server?

A.To install vCenter Server , we need vCenter DVD.

(VCenter_VMware-VIMSetup-all-4.1.0-259021_VCENTER.iso)
If not available in Local machine Copy iso from
\\192.168.1.100\Softwares to your Windows XP Physical Machine)

B.Map iso to Windows 2003 EE x64 Virtual Machinc

Workstation->Select 2003 EE VM tab->right click ->Settings- >Hardware tab-

>CD/DVD->Select Use ISO image option.....

Check both "Connected" and "Connect at power on"

C.Login to 2003 EE VM , open CD drive

D.Double click the CD

E. vmware vcenter Installer
Select vCenter Server

F.Choose Setup Language

Click OK
(Here it may take 2-5 minutes to show the next screen)

G. vmware vcenter Server

Click Next

H.End User Patent Agreement

Click Next
I.License Agreement

Select _>I agree to the .....

Click Next

J.Customer Information

Name: your Name (example: Naresh)

Organizatio : CloudSoft

Click Next

K.Database Options

Select Install MS Sql 2005 Express

Click Next
L.vCenter Server Service
Click Next

M.Destination Folder
Click Next
 N.vCenter Linked Mode Options

Select: Create Standalone vmware vcenter instance

O. Configure Ports
Click Next

P.vMware vCenter JVM memory

Select small
Click Next

Q.Ready to install the program

Click Install

After installing vCenter, How can I know whether vCenter is installed or not?

-No Desktop Shortcut is available.

-Start->All Programs->Check for vmware folder and the vCenter Server.

run "services.msc" -> Check for "vmware virtual center Server" service.

if "vmware virtual center Server" is available, then vcenter server is installed

successfully.

How can I know vCenter is started or not?

run "services.msc" -> Check for "vmware virtual center Server"

service

if service status is "started" , then vcenter is running

if service status is "stopped" , then start the service.

How to connect to vCenter Server?

Note down the details of vcenter:

Ipaddress/Hostname
Username
password

Open vSphere Client and provide the above details.
