Compressed Inorganic Fiber Gasketing

The New Standard in Gasketing

A specially formulated, all purpose family of Garlock inorganic asbestos-free
fiber gasketing which exceeds the parameters of aramid fiber reinforced
gasketing in thermal stability, torque retention, sealability and weight loss.

As inorganic fibers do not oxidize IFG and ST-706 provides greater thermal
and dimensional stability during process cycling.

IFG is produced to meet most service requirements. The IFG material also
offers flexibility when writing corporate piping specifications – giving you
the right gasket for the right application – the first time.

ST-706 is the result of extensive research and development primarily aimed at

the requirement for a high temperature gasket, particularly for steam service.

Compressed Inorganic Fiber Gasketing

Benefits of the new generation fiber

Physical properties are extremely important when evaluating gasketing mate-
rials. ASTM and DIN tests set the benchmark so engineers can differentiate
one product from another.

IFG expands the application range over aramid and glass fiber gaskets, pro-
vides the possibility to limit the number of different gasketing materials (reduc-
tion of excessive inventory costs) and offers the opportunity to extend your
maintenance intervals.

IFG not only gives you higher physical properties than aramid fibers as shown
in fig. 1, but also offers improved bolt load retention over time (fig. 2).
Furthermore IFG provides higher sealability, better torque retention and lower
creep relaxation. For your security and safety the recommended pressure is
much lower than the test result shown in fig. 3. Comparing the accelerated
oxidation test (fig. 4), IFG performs about 50 % better than the aramid-fiber
and is almost identical to the asbestos gasketing material properties. Fig. 1: IFG vs. Aramid Fiber

GYLON Gasketing

High chemical resistant gasketing

Garlock GYLON gasketing is truly a superior and unique material. The exclu-
sive properties of GYLON gasketing are combined to deliver its superior per-
formance to comply with today’s clean air requirements through sealability
and torque retention. Asbestos-free GYLON gasketing routinely outperforms
all conventional PTFE products by drastically minimizing gasket creep and
cold flow problems. Typical conditions for GYLON gasketing are found in the
food, chemical and petrochemical industry, pulp and paper plants and phar-
maceutical industry. For special chemicals consult the chemical resistance
chart or contact Garlock.

These general purpose gasketing materials offer significant advantages over
conventional PTFE in regard to functionability at higher temperature/pressure
combinations. Style 3500 and 3501 E GYLON gasketing conform to FDA spe-

industries.

HELICOFLEX® / CEFIL’AIR®

HELICOFLEX® Resilient Metal Seal

The HELICOFLEX® seal was developed in close co-ope-
ration with the French Nuclear Energy Board (CEA) and
has been subjected to long and intensive studies. It is a
flexible O-ring made of metal which is highly resilient.
This system represents an entirely new approach to the
concept of pure metal seals. The highly favourable com-
pression and resilience behaviour of the HELICOFLEX®
seal are almost comparable to rubber seal properties
whereby the typical characteristics of the metal seal are
maintained. HELICOFLEX® seals are preferably employed Before tightening

in the case of static axial sealing in connection with

flanged joints.

After tightening

CEFIL’AIR® Inflatable Seals

To seal moving components which need to be separated
or sealed frequently, the use of inflatable seals represents
the simplest, safest and most efficient solution.
The CEFIL’AIR® seals which are inflatable and releasable
by means of a pneumatic drive have been developed
for various applications. In comparison to other inflatable
seals, CEFIL’AIR® seals may be employed in a wider
range of applications owing to their special design and
the manufacturing process which is based on the tech-
nology and the high quality elastomer materials.

Pump Packing: 8093 DSA and Packing Style 1304

DSA = Dry running, Self Adjusting

Step with Garlock into the 3rd generation of sealing technology for rotary
pump service, featuring the combination of mechanical seal and braided
packing properties.

When compressing the DSA set the cup and cone rings expand radially to
form a positive seal against both the shaft and the housing. Based on the
sophisticated geometry DSA requires less axial load than other common
packing solutions. DSA offers reduced costs in maintenance service. The fle-
xible graphite rings are very efficient in conducting heat away from the shaft,
therefore equipment runs cooler. Various combinations against almost every
media can be realized by using different packing styles.
Our 8093 DSA set is the technically preferred solution, however, when spool
stock is required style 1304 would be the best alternative.

EVSP = Expandable Valve Stem Packing

The Cup and Cone configuration of adapter and sealing
rings in combination with varying densities allows selec-
tive component compression and controlled radial flow
resulting in effective sealing on both the I.D. and O.D.
This innovative design reduces valve stem friction and
valve actuator force by eleminating valve stem leakage.

KLOZURE Oil Seals and PS-SEAL

Garlock KLOZURE Oil Seals

Tough seals for tough jobs - Garlock radial lip KLOZURE
oil seals. Wherever shafts rotate there is a KLOZURE oil
seal engineered specifically for the application - whether
it is retaining lubricants, excluding contaminents or to
seperate fluids. KLOZURE oil seals are widely used in
both maintenance and in original equipment.

KLOZURE radial lip oil seals - more sizes to ensure lon-

ger life and cut maintenance costs.

Garlock PS-SEAL
Garlock GYLON PS lip material has shown outstanding
results in radial shaft sealing since 1960.

Whenever operating parameters go beyond the capabi-

lities of elastomeric oil-seals whether it is pressure, speed
or chemical resistance, the PS-SEAL solves the problem.
For example the PS-SEAL floating seal device is widely
used as sealing device in mixers, dryers and agitators,
where shaft movements exceed the limits of any other
sealing device.

KLOZURE Oil Seals

KLOZURE Model 64
Severe service seal for heavy machi-
nery such as steel rolling mills, paper
manufacturing machines, coal grin-
ders and gear drives. KLOZURE
Model 64 operates with extremely
high shaft speeds and accomodates
greater shaft misalignment and run-
out.

KLOZURE Model 53 and 63

General purpose seals for small to
medium shaft diameters. The
Garlock finger spring system ensures
equal sealing lip load on the shaft
and eliminates bearing damage
caused by garter spring dumping.

KLOZURE Model 59
Large bore seal for moderate to
severe operating conditions. The
stainless steel finger spring makes
KLOZURE Model 59 especially
suitable in contaminated/dusty
environments.

available in both, metric and inch
sizes.

KLOZURE Model 23
Split seal with bonded stainless steel
finger springs saves downtime cost
due to easy installation (no dismant-
ling of equipment). KLOZURE Model
23 can be cut to size offering an
unmatched size availability. Used in
maintenance applications in steel
mills, mining, pulp and paper plants,
marine etc. The seal is available in
both metric and inch sizes.

KLOZURE Model 26 E
Designed for applications where cor-

PS-SEAL Floating Seal Device

PS-SEAL Floating Seal Device

The PS-SEAL Floating Seal Device is a customized solu-
tion for rotating shafts with excessive radial movement.
The principle ensures that the sealing assembly follows
any shaft movement. This is achieved by the flexible
connector installed between the shaft seal and the
equipment. PS-SEAL Floating Seal Devices have success-
fully sealed mixers, agitators and other equipment with
shaft deflection greater than other seals can absorbe.
