Abstract
The abstract is a short summary of the main ideas found in the lab report. It should include 1) the purpose of the
study or the question being addressed by the study, 2) the procedures used in the study, 3) the major results of the
study, and 4) any conclusions drawn by the author(s). The abstract should generally be between 100 and 200 words
in length. Abstract was a very short summary of the entire paper
Introduction
The introduction of your lab report is a chance for you to "hook" the reader and preview the important details you'll be
talking about in the later sections of the paper.
The introduction will be a longer section with more detail. It could be anywhere from three or four paragraphs to a
couple pages long, depending on the complexity of the topic and, of course, the requirements of your instructor.
Must contain: (broad introduction to the topic and how it works, specifics on the experiment, summary of the things
you’ve done about your topic, purpose of the study, the hypothesis you tested in your study, and/or the question(s)
you were trying to answer)
