SLIDE 1- month of allah

1. The month of Hajj is over.

2. It is the last month of the islamic year and
what follows now is the month of Allah, al-
Muharram.
3. How do we know that it is allah's month.?
4. from the hadeeth
SLIDE 2 - sacred
months
Allah singled out four months and
made them sacred.
Now WHAT WE need to know is that Allah
has chosen BEST from His creation:
FOR example
1. from among mankind He chose
Messengers, they are the best
2. from among places on earth He chose
the mosques,
3. from among days He chose Friday
(Jumu‘ah),
4. from among nights He chose Laylat al-
Qadr.
5. and from among the months He chose
Ramadan and the sacred months,
SLIDE 3

how do we know about these sacred

months?
Allah says in surah tawbah ayah 36

Now allah has told us a few things that is

He made righteous deeds and the reward
greater.
(example: you fast, pray ,do zikr according
to how the prophet has taught us then the
reward is bigger)
Also this month is from the prohibited
months where Allah prohibited fighting
within.
WHY?
SLIDE 4
Virtues Of This Month

Muharram, is a month with many

virtues. Its greatest virtue is the
day of ‘Aashooraa.

Now what is the day of ashoora?

Do you remember the day of
arafaat? When we did our hajj
workshop? it is the 9th of dhul
hijjah. right?

Similarly we have the day of

ashoora which is the 10th of
moharram. ok?
Now this day is a great day. why?

Because allah saved musa and

drowned the firown and his
people.

So what did Musa (a.s) do? to

show gratitude to Allah,to thank
allah he fasted this day.

and after him, the jews started to

fast on this day.
SLIDE 5

what did the

prophet (saw) say?
The Messenger of Allah (blessings and
peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Fast
the day of ‘Ashoora’, and be different
from the Jews with regard to it; fast
the day before it or the day after it.”

So either you fast 9th and 10th or

10th and 11th of moharram
SLIDE 6
WRONG BELIEFS AND PRACTICES
There are those who take the day of
‘Aashooraa as a day of sadness,
crying, and howling because of the
killing of Hussain.

who is hussain(R.A) ?

So This is wrong, it is not from the

sunnah, our prophet never told us to
do this.
Some call it a day of ‘Eid, A day of
happiness.This is not an ‘Eid.
Rather, it is a day of giving thanks
to Allah for His help.

Some presents give presents to

their children on this day. But
this is an innovation and not
permissible.
SLIDE 7

SO as Muslims we should fast on the 9th

and 10th days, with the 10th being the day
of ‘Aashooraa. We should fast on this day,
seek reward and give thanks to Allah.

The sunnah of the Prophets, and those who

followed them, was that if Allah helped them in
victory (over the kuffar) they showed
gratitude by being obedient to Him, fasting,
remembering Him, and thanking Him. And
the Prophets did not introduce new
innovations and evil actions.

There is a huge reward in doing so, which is

having a years’ worth of previous sins forgiven.
So the Muslim should not be neglectful during
this day.
