EU-Indonesia Trade Talks
The European Union (EU) and
Indonesia embarked upon the
first full round of negotiations
in order to establish and
conclude an economic
agreement that would benefit
both parties. The discussions
are an opportunity to make
trade and investment easier
and for the EU to present
specific proposals for several
chapters. They will also hold
the annual Working Group on
Trade and Investment to solve
some of the specific issues
faced by EU companies already
present on the Indonesian
market.

EU Classifies of Certain Thumb

On 3rd February 2017, the EU
Customs Code Committee (CCC)
classified 'thumb grips for a
game console controller' under
the Combined Nomenclature
(CN) code 3926 90 97 with a
third country duty rate at 0%,
since it is a constituent
material (plastics) and not
exclusively a video game
accessory. It also classified 'a
single glass shelf presented with
metal supports for fixing it to
the wall' under the CN code
9403 89 00 with a third country
duty rate at 5.60 %, since it is a

EU-Mexico to Reform Existing
Trade Agreement
On 1st February 2017, the EU and
Mexico agreed to further trade
negotiations as part of an
accelerated negotiation schedule
for a new, reformed Free Trade
Agreement. The meetings and
negotiations will focus on
greater economic growth,
making our firms more
competitive along with the
creation of jobs. The trade talks
aimed at modernising the
current EU-Mexican agreement
will take place in April and June
2017 (3-7 April and 26-29 June).

Russia Did Not Agree With the
Conclusions of the WTO Dispute
on Road to EU
Russia does not agree with some
of the conclusions of WTO panel
on the dispute with the EU on
the introduction of duties on
cars from Germany and Italy.
This is informed through the
website of the Ministry of
Economic Development. This is
an Anti-dumping measure of the
Eurasian Economic Union on
imports of trucks and utility vans
from Germany and Italy. Against
such a protectionist policy made
the EU Commission. Since, there
is a dispute with the WTO
arbitrators. And on Friday, a
court ruled that the duty should
be abolished without delay.

Russia Will Ban Imports of Beef
from Minsk Region
Russia bans imports of beef in
the country, produced in the
Minsk region of Belarus.
Restriction on imports enter into
force on 6th February. The ban
was due to the fact that
Belarusian companies suspected
of using Ukrainian and European
meat, said the head of the

2. There has been an update to European Union Customs Tariff. This update includes
new and deleted HS numbers, changed import duties and preferential duties,

Peru Opens its Doors to Colombian Pork Meat and Enabled Two More Plants of Bovine Meat
Colombian pork meat, produced in Super Cerdo Paisa and Frigocolanta, has been finding its way to the Peruvian market. In
2016, until November, 1.2 million USD was exported. Today Colombia can already export bovine meat to Egypt, Jordan,
Libya, Lebanon, Georgia, Chile, United Arab Emirates, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Peru, Angola, Cuba, Kyrgyzstan and
Curacao. Meanwhile in 2014, the country exported 42 million USD of meat to the world and it is estimated that last year the
external sales of this product amounted to 93.4 million USD. The goal of the Project of National Strategic Interest (Proyecto
de Interés Nacional Estratégico) is to increase the exports of this good with a goal of 444.5 million USD to reach in 2018.
Peru's main exports are: sugar cane, medicine for human use, articles from paper paste, polypropylene, capillaries
preparations, beauty preparations, perfumes and water for dressing table, soaps and others.

Argentina and Brazil Agreed to Strengthen Bilateral Relationship and Achieve a Greater Regional Integration
During the closing of the III Reunion of the Bilateral Commission for Production and Commerce, last Monday and Tuesday in
Brasilia, Argentina and Brazil ratified their commitment to ensure the bilateral and commercial relationship, strengthen
Mercosur as a platform to the world and advance on a Free Trade Agreement with the European Union. Argentina's Minister
of Production, Francisco Cabrera, held a meeting with Brazil's Minister of Treasury, Enrique Meirelles, Brazil's Industry,
Exterior Commerce and Services Marcos Pereira, Brazil's Chancellor Jose Serra. Cabrera addressed the press saying, “we
have a mandate from President Macri: give a qualitative jump in order to reach a greater integration and, at the same time,
get out to the world in a strategic through alliances via Mercosur”, and he prioritizes, “our objective is to create more
quality jobs for Argentinians and a greater integration with our main commercial partner and strategic allied. The men
responsible for the commerce of both countries, Miguel Braun and Abrão Miguel Árabe Neto, together with the Secretary of
Economic Relations of Argentina's Chancellery, Horacio Reyser, advanced on the bilateral agenda and also in the negotiations
of Mercosur with other markets. In these negotiations, topics such as the dialogue with the European Union, EFTA, the offer
list with India; the explorative dialogue with South Korea and agreed to open negotiations with Canada and Japan as an end
to open new markets for Mercosur's products.
