[B] Comprehension Type Questions

19. Read the text given below and answer the questions (i-iv) based on it.
An article on ‘Consumer Protection’ was published in a daily newspaper. The main points
published in this article were as the following:
So far the consumers are not aware of what their rights and responsibilities are. There is an
absence of awareness in them. This is why the consumer of today is backward. A ray of hope
has become visible because of the beginning of discussion on the ‘consumer protection’.
Now, the consumer will wake up.
Not only this, but today’s consumer is completely scattered. A person left alone cannot speak
about his problem to anyone strongly. So long as the consumers do not get united, their
rights are impossible to be protected. The discussion on ‘Consumer Protection’ will be helpful
in uniting the consumers.
‘Consumer Protection’ will benefit not only the consumers but also the business. Business
takes its birth in the society only and flourishes in it. It becomes the responsibility of business
to take decisions in the interest of the society. Similarly every business wants to ‘run’ for a long

Now-a-days big business units have started establishing their own ‘Consumer Service and
Grievance Cells’. This is being done for the convenience of consumers. The businessmen
know that all the customers do not buy goods of the same brand, price, quality and size. In
order to solve this problem of theirs, all the businessmen have the same product of several
brands, prices, qualities and sizes. This has no doubt increased the investment in business,
but it has also resulted in the increase of customers’ satisfaction.
