Who we are?

Desi Sandook is a social and video commerce led DTC (Direct to Consumer)
Ethnic wear brand. The start-up was founded by two women entrepreneurs –
Kritika Garg & Suruchi Mangal in 2019 with a vision to contemporize Indian
ethnic wear and provide Premium & Affordable ethnic wear to mid age Indian
women.
What’s the problem we are solving
We believe that Indian mid age women in Tier 2, 3, 4 cities beyond metros
have limited options to buy quality ethnic wear. Local boutiques/shops have
limited product range and charge exorbitant prices. The large e-commerce
stores have a self-serve model/largely English centric which Indian mid age
women are not comfortable with shopping. Because of this reason the benefits
of e-commerce in providing quality, choice and convenience are yet to fully
materialize for this class of customers.
On the other hand, the current pandemic has adversely impacted the business
of thousands of small boutique owners/shops as customers are avoiding
visiting shops and increasing moving to online mediums for purchase.

How are we solving it?


We have followed a technology centric approach towards solving this problem
 Video & Conversational Commerce Platform - We have replicated the
offline buying experience by creating an innovative video powered
technology platform for our website and social media pages. Customers
are able to watch live videos of our products giving them a better
understanding of the product – material, look, price etc. They can also
interact with us for any queries

 Mobile App for small boutique owners/home entrepreneurs – We have


empowered 500+ women entrepreneurs by making our products
available to them digitally through our mobile app platform called Desi
Tribe. Using the platform, the women entrepreneurs are able to sell our
products using images & videos in their network for a commission. The
orders are then fulfilled directly through our technology driven supply
chain. The income generated from this has been a big support for these
small entrepreneurs in these times of pandemic

 Aggregating quality supply – We are aggregating quality supply from


over 200+ suppliers across India and thus in the process empowering
several small artisans, weavers etc by taking their products & craft
directly to the end customer and cutting out the middlemen

Our Traction so far


We have served over 3000+ customers across 300+ cities in the last one year
with more than 75% of our orders coming from outside the metros. Our videos
are registering over 1 Mn+ views and watch time every month.
