 Controls considered necessary:


1 Electrical installations will only be made by qualified and competent persons .
2 Shut down of proposed work location will be requested and done in with the engineering
department if required prior to start of work.
3 Electrical equipment will be permitted to be used only if it is in good working and safe to use
condition.
4 Electrical equipment or supplies will not be used in such a manner so as to cause danger or
injury

5 Electrical installations or equipment which may be exposed to mechanical damage, inclement

weather or other harmful conditions will be protected, so as not to cause danger of injury to
operatives or other persons.

6 Cable termination to the Main Electrical room will be Conducted in the presence of
Engineering Department to make sure they are safely energised in their presence .

7 110 /220 volt electrical equipment will be used, so far as is practicable, on work location,
unless requirement to use further reduced equipment is specified.

8 Where overhead power lines are likely to cause danger, the owners of the cable will be
consulted and if required “shrouds” fitted or suitable fencing and barriers erected, to prevent
access .

9 Routes of all above electricity supplies will be traced, locations marked and notified to
Technicians.

10 A competent electrical person will be present during entire work period .

11 All portable generators will be used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.

12 All site operatives should be aware of how to isolate the site supply in the event of an
emergency.
