Write an essay of 350 words on the following topic.
In recent years, there has been growing interest in the relationship between equality and personal achievement. Some people believe that individuals can achieve more in egalitarian societies. Others believe that high levels of personal achievement are possible only if individuals are free to succeed or fail according to their individual merits. What is your view of the relationship between equality and personal success? There have been a number of studies on how personal accomplishment is associated with equality in the society. Some researchers have argued that individuals' achievement is strongly linked with equality. However, others have stated that the success of one person depends on environmental and genetic factors or his or her talent. From my persepective, I strongly agree that both equality in the society and merits of an individual lead to the success of a person. First of all, personal achievement of individual could result from equality in the society. For example, In Vietnam, most of the Kinh gain more achievements compared to other ethnic groups, namely Khmer, Muong, and Nung People. This is because the Kinh have better chances to gain higher education or get more careful care from their families. Another example is that the majority of chidren in African countries have less education because both of economy and and education are not developed well in those countries. In fact, if people have equal education or oppotunities, they will have more freedom to choose the career path, leading to their success. It is proved that, most childen who are living in a society with equality and wealth, namely America and Canada, they will be more successful than those living in inequal and poor societies. Secondly, it might be possible that merits of an individual lead to the success of a person. One study showed that a child with merits have more achievements that one without any talent although they are living in the same family. It is true that talented children seem to find better solutions to a problem than those without talent. Another example is that high IQ score helps an individual gain more success because more intelligent people seem to be quicker to complete their tasks with better results. More importantly, if they think that they are smarter, they can gain more confidence and motivation at their workplace. In conclusion, personal accomplishment bears a resemblance to the equality in societies in terms of contributing to one's success which has been clearly demonstrated above. Therefore, I strongly argue that not only do ones have tmerits, but they also should have the same chance and education as well as the same job oppotunities regardless of their race or family backgrounds.
